That's cos they're the Champions. The Champions begin at home first, so I believe anyway.

We will get Arsenal away, Spurs away, United away, Liverpool away, Chelsea away and then a combination of all 5 of them at the same time, again it will be away. Infact we aren't home until January.

They were not Champions each of the last 6 years that they have played home 1st game.
They got first and last game at home and boxing day last season

The true fixtures won't have appeared on their website, but I guess we'll all keep on guessing until the fixtures are out there.

On the first/last home game issue.... It's already been said that the champions have to start the season at home and that should mean they end it away. This has obviously had a significant bearing on City's start to each season since the early 1990s.

However, the League successes are only a part of the reason City have opened so many seasons away from home. The input of City (and Utd) themselves plays a significant part.

All clubs are asked if there are any special dates/games to schedule and the fixture list is created based on the input of those dates as well.

In the past City have had fixtures changed (after the list was published) to accomodate the UEFA Cup final 2008 (end of season away finish when home had been scheduled), but they hadn't thought to ask before the list was created.

In the last 15-20 years, fixtures have also been scheduled based on planned building work (most notably in 1993-4, 1994-5, 2002-03 & 2003-04), the staging of pop concerts (City have asked to end the season away from home and also asked to be away from home at the start of seasons because of this).

No doubt someone will talk at some point about scheduling Utd-City in early Feb - each year both City and Utd have the opportunity to state they wish to avoid this. I don't know what if any recommendations have been made this year (or last), but I do know that in 2007-08 City had not asked to avoid that date (but that was also the year they forgot to ask about playing away at the end of the season as well until the list was published).

There isn't really any kind of conspiracy. All clubs are equal when it comes to this but some clubs rarely ask to avoid certain dates up front.

When City start winning the League, they will start the next season at home (unless they ask to play away of course because of building work/concerts/events). It's as simple as that.

The computer drew them at home first then on those occasions. It's a 2 horse race at the end of the day, not like its a one in ten chance they would be at home, it's simply 50/50. I could toss a coin now and it could land on heads 6 times in a row. It wouldn't be shocking if that happened, it's just how 50/50 works.

Do you know why Utd were at home for the first and last games of last season?

Prestwich Blue has already said we had first home game, but refused it due to City Square. If we had taken that first home game, United would have been away. Makes sense to me.

The only people who would know for certain are the clubs involved and the people who create the fixtures. Prestwich Blue's comments about City Square seem accurate (City needed to be away to ensure the building work completion), and it may be that City asked to be away at the end because of a proposed event.

In fact.... the Wimbledon-Luton play off was staged at Eastlands on the final weekend of the season. That was probably planned/proposed before the fixtures were finalised and published.

Don't tell me, united start off with Norwich at home, finish with Swansea at home and don't play anyone of note for the first 3 months, just to help them get a bit of momentum. All in a completely random way, of course.

Pidge, will you stop using boring old logic. Cant you see whats staring you in the face?

Look hard at last year's fixture program. We played Chelsea 5 times, all away and Arsenal 4 times , 3 times away.

Man United didn't have to play Chelsea at all and got Blackburn 5 times and Wigan six times. All at home.

What a lot of people don't realise is that United actually lost the title to Chelsea but the FA purposely added 4 points for United and noone noticed.

Rags, the fucking lot of them. The whole fucking world. Everyone.

Fair enough if we made the request to be away but we should have got the last game at home instead.
