Florida, Disney, Universal etc

nobody has mentioned Discovery Cove - this for me was the highlight of our second trip 10 years ago - costs a bomb but swimming with dolphins is awesome and your kids will remember it forever

Saving to take our daughter just before her 5th birthday so it doesn't interfere with school, only 3 years to go I can't wait, I've been 3 times, 1981 to florida, 1990 to California, 1995 florida absolutely love Disney and now I have an excuse to go again and relive my childhood through my daughter, I'll be honest I can't wait to see her face when she meets Minnie Mouse she lives her already. Personally I want to go to Harry Potter world, yep I'm a big kid.

Florida is an amazing holiday....we went last summer, and 4 years before that....expensive, but genuinely worth every penny.

Think carefully about the villa/hotel debate...we stayed on International Drive in a Hotel complex...Sheraton Vistana Villages, and its superb.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=5607" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/ ... rtyID=5607</a>

I think a villa is better if you have loads of kids, or a couple of families going...the hotel is better, imo, if you have 1 or 2 kids as they'll get to meet and play with other kids...plus you get all the activities, life guards at the pools....and im not gonna lie, i love having the room cleaned and beds made for me :-).........im on holiday ffs.

I-Drive is really close to all the parks, no more than 15 mins drive......we went for nearly 3 weeks this time, bought 2 week passes for Disney, and 2 week passes for Universal.....just "activate" one of them a few days after.

You easily need a day per park....you could do more, but you end up rushing everywhere.....we'd head to a park for 9-10am, head home 5-6pm....maybe go back later for the fireworks etc.

Loads of shopping in the Malls,,,,driving in really simple (in fact, i now just want an automatic car...why do we even have gears? :-) )

My 2 were 5 and 11 when we first went....9 and 15 the second time....they enjoyed it much much more the 2nd time, regardless its an amazing holiday....id go every year if i could afford it.

We stayed at the on site all star Disney hotels. They seemed to be the cheapest of all the Disney hotels and the coaches they put on are convenient. Had a brilliant time

I was going to suggest this forum also, any questions you can think of these guys will have answered it already.

Personally Disney onsite is a better experience but you pay a hefty price for that convenience.

Free Disney Dining Plan for 2015 for onsite is expected to become available on 24th April, if you're unsure what this means the dibb will explain all.

There really is a big premium for the onsite disney hotels....we had a look round a couple, and they are magical (did i use that word?)...but the cost of food over there means eating out every night (which we did) is affordable, and you get to choose where you go etc

We go with TRAVEL CITY to Florida and stay In the Disney AllStars resort, great for the kids

We have been twice and both times stayed in the international drive area which we thought was superb. I would definitely advise in hiring a car, first time we went we thought we would manage without one, ended up hiring one after only two days. Check out if there are any rocket launches scheduled for when you are over there, we saw the space shuttle Atlantis launched first time we were there, a truly unforgettable experience. We found getting to the parks first thing in the morning, back to the hotel for an afternoon swim and relax then back out in the evening for the firework finale(s) worked best for us. There is so much to do other than parks, you'll have a great time.

Anyone been, prefer a hotel on International drive or one of the on site Disney hotels? Trying to price up a holiday there in the next couple of years.

Suppose it depends which parks you want to do?

Went when I was in the Royal Navy in 91, bunch of us stayed on international drive, we was all 22 and over but still felt like a group of 10yos top place...
