Food & Drink Prices - Next Season

I have not bought any food or drink in the stadium since 1973ish when I was a young lad easily parted from his money.

In recent years since we've all been forced to sit down I've taken a small flask of coffee and a Kit Kat, changing from white coffee and a 4 finger Kit Kat to black coffee and a Chunky Kit Kat in about 2002-2003.

Why did you change to black coffee and a chunky kit kat?

You think it's bad in the ground, you should try the piss water that is sold in the upstairs room in Mary D's, now that is crap and expensive crap at that.

I will be drinking in the ground before the game next season, at least my money will be helping City to meet with FFP regulations.

I used to work at City in the catering about 5 years ago, but there's still the same problems. Customer service is shit because the staff are all from an agency that gives them one or two days of work a week. No one gives a shit, you're being served by a student that doesn't give a shit about their job because there's loads of other football grounds to work at (This wasn't my attitude, I'm glad for work) for minimum wage. Working at the kiosks isn't a career, and the sheer amount of shit you get from fans, rightly or wrongly, makes you not want to help anyone.

The way to remedy this is by complaining to the company they work for, because it's not City's problem. If someone's shit, ask for their company name and send the company an email or letter! City cannot do anything about the quality of the staff because they're temporary staff.

Mind you, food and drink will be miles better if Jamie Oliver is doing it. I've worked a fair few shifts on their boats in London, and the food is absolutely fantastic.

I'm sorry to hear that Blues have been giving you stick at the match when you're trying to serve them food or drink. I use one of two Kiosks in South Stand Upper and the Staff are all great. There's always a smile and they'll tell you to enjoy the match etc.

The one girl in my nearest kiosk is absolutely gorgeous too.

What's the food like at sporting events in other countries? Anyone?

Germany - Pretty good. We had a pint on the terraces watching Bayern Munich II.
Spain - Boccadillos and got served beer out of a cooler bag at our seats in the Nou Camp.
Italy - Same as above, a bloke walking round selling bottles of beer at Chievo.
France - Food was ok at Nantes. Hot dogs, chips etc.

I went to a Bundesliga game in March: Eintracht Frankfurt v Stuttgart and the catering was on another planet. The speed of the service and the quality of the dispensed product were vastly superior to what is on offer at the Etihad.

I could absolutely guarantee to increase the profit on the drinks at City by at least a third within one game. It is an absolute fucking shambles, as it ever was at Maine Road too.

The deal with Heineken is up this summer and I would hope that whoever the new contract is with deals with the avoidable beer dispense problems which occur with tiresome predictability at the ground, especially at half time.

It is the aspect of the club that has improved the least, if at all, since the takeover.

Agreed, they should be pulling a load of pints just before half time, it would make life so much easier.

It's not just that, although I agree. When I said dispense problems I was referring to the manner in which the beer comes from barrel to glass. It is too slow and is often subject to 'fobbing', which is when it comes out like ice-cream. These are issues that often occur at stadium venues, partly because refrigeration is more problematic than at a pub, for example, but they aren't insurmountable with the appropriate thought and investment.

I am aware of how much beer Mary D's shifts on a match day and it is truly staggering. Every second counts with service at a sporting event. Not just in terms of the customers you serve, but also those that don't bother because it's too much hassle. The sooner the club wakes up to this the better for everyone.
