Football Pundits

Funny thing is the editors for the papers are too interested in what player makes what a week yet never mention the massive wage the likes of Merson, Thompson, Henry and Owen get for spouting nonsense, at least footballers are doing something productive where as most pundits offer very little to the football world.

Anyone with a basic knowledge of football could be a pundit where as to be a top league footballer you have to be on an athlete's level.

No we couldn't Lol !! - the usual bollox they spout to support that view is " you haven't played the game at any proper level " meaning because of that we have no idea what is going on. The fifty odd years I have spent watching football therefore has clearly taught me nothing - I have seen it but not watched it as it were. Furthermore during that time I have also had to suffer the "learned teachings" of these fucking muppets so the conclusion to draw is that by their own put down they are implying that not only have I not learned anything from what I have seen I have not learned anything from what they have said - so who's talking shite now eh?

I don't really see much punditry here but we have a daily programme (maybe from ESPN?) Which has ex-managers on. Much more interesting to listen to than some random ex-players ...

I may be a little bit bias, but trying to stay as neutral as possible I think we have had a fantastic window. Arguably the best in the league, but time will tell. Wickham worries me, but Cabaye, Sakho and Mccarthy look like great signings. Bamford is up in the air.

Give over mate.

I'm happy you are happy with your signings but to even suggest its arguably the best in the league is biased in the extreme.

A couple of weeks back I was listening to 606 with Ian Wright.

Wright was banging on about lack of investment at Everton and how this would force them to sell Stones to Chelsea. An Everton fan phoned in, a well spoken, clearly a well educated guy and had to explain three times to Wright how this was not the case. How Everton was a well run club, with little or no debt to speak of, they were not desperate for an injection of cash to keep the lights on or pay wages, nor where they owned by leeches desperate to trouser any incoming cash.
That may not be true. There are stories that Everton are in hock up to their eyeballs, that some of the directors have loaned them money from offshore tax havens at very high rates of interest and that they've mortgaged off everything they can including future season ticket income.

You wouldn't have had Otamendi, KDB, Delph and Sterling?

Well if that's the case, then all the more kudos to them for hanging on to John Stones. Although I do realise Kenwright was probably hoping Chelsea would increase the bid before the window shut.

I'd be very surprised if their books would past muster with the FA if that were true. If it is true, what was Chelsea's final bid? £40 million? If they were in the crapper they'd have snapped Maureens hand off.

Their actions don't strike me as indicative of a club in dire financial straits.

Besides, all they need to do is hang on for another year and a tsunami of TV cash will wipe away their woes.

Of course he would, but he's talking about Palace, and saying they've done well. He's right too, they aren't going for the title, it's his judgement given what they have to work from.
