let's see, either we're all making this stuff up, or bluepeter didnt read the papers.

as i can remember the exact seat in the exact cafe and the exact time of day when i first read one of these articles, and how far my jaw dropped, i have to feel that, in the absence of evidence to the contrary, I am not making it up. I cant vouch for anyone else however.

Your jaw dropped because a manager said a player was underperforming?

Really?

Was this the great criticism you were all on about?

Because if so, your in for a fucking shock if Mourinho comes in. Or any other manager who has ever won anything.

nah, the article went into specifics about the coaching staffs reservations over the attitude charector and behaviour of dunne, richards, hamman, elano, benjani, michael ball, Jo, and others. I've certainly never read anything like it in about any other club. It was stuff that was repeated in every single quality newspaper between october and december.... whilst we were really struggling in the league.

No, there were no quotes suggesting that whatsoever.

yes, it was all unattributed. but it came from somewhere, and if Hughes didnt want it printed, there where many things he could have done about it. like phoning the sport editors. or saying something specific in public. but versions of it were printed many times over in the broadsheets, and much of it is still referred to today. this week, the times once again printed that Elano had been identified by Hughes as a troublemaker.

Had a look over threads started that have Hughes and Elano in the title over the period you stated, and not one has anything close to what you said. Now, do you really think any of your lot would have let him get away with that?

And yeh, nothing wrong ever gets printed by the newspapers without them letting you know beforehand does it? THey always make sure people are perfectly fine with whats being said?

FFS, do you live in the real world?

You go back to your fantasy land Moomba and keep praying that Hughes will be sacked.

Cheers, I will keep hoping Hughes is sacked.

For the good of the club.

We want to keep our flair players and youngsters and to me Hughes wants rid. Maybe I do live in fantasy land for wanting success in the next couple of years, but I can't see it happening with Hughes in charge.

This is my opinion as well

an example from JULY

look, the story has remained the same in every paper from the beginning all the way through to this week. if it's not true, why hasnt it been corrected and why is it being repeated in every paper, always unattributed, admittedly. why hasnt MH just said 'Elano is not a troublemaker, anyone who says so is being mischeivous'?

it was in every single quality paper in november and december. what you really need to read, and i cant find, is an article from the times entitled 'hughes headache to rebuild divided city'.

here we go
<a class="postlink" href="http://2....229.132/search?q=cache:OS ... =firefox-a</a>

this is an HTML reconstruction from googles cache of an article that appeared in the times 'the game' pull-out. i really cant find it anywhere else on the web, so you will have to excuse the fact it is hard to read and missing information. trust me, I read this article in print. It was the most specific and comprehensive of the lot, and leaves you in no doubt that this is not just information from a 'source'.

In any case other versions of the same stuff appeared in the guardian and independant in the same week, and much of it had been printed before hand, and is still repeated to this day in all these newspapers.

do you know why that is?

I do

it's called an off the record briefing.

Because you can't stop transfer speculation, because once a transfer goes ahead (even if it was in 5 years) , the papers would win in a re-trial very easily, and claim a lot of money in damages.

Also, if he was just to make a ststement about the one player, it would send a signal that other pieces of news are true. WOuld you have our manager spending all of his time dispelling rumours about the club?

Oh, and the fact that you think that there are any "quality newspapers" says a lot about you. The Bellamy goes on strike story was printed in every newspaper, despite one newspaper just making it up.

repeated in every single quality newspaper
Fucking hell you're struggling for credibility after that pile of shite.

the bellamy story was also retracted by every single newspaper. this one has been about for months and has been repeated in several this very week.

I know the difference between a small off hand transfer rumour in the sun/mirror/express and numerous full page articles repeating the same information in all the broadsheets.

(excuse me if I use the term 'quality' press, i believe it's de rigeur now that only the Telegraph is printed in a true broadsheet format)

You say credible newspaper then quote The Sun.

Funny you should mention that article aswell...

On their website, the Sun have every article they have ever printed from 2003 at the earliest, yet they don't have that article.

It's almost as if someone has had them, hmm, whats that term, retract the article. What do you think?

its not from the sun you numbskull

the sun have never printed anything that long in their life.

it's a trace of the article from someone's website, it was a pdf, then lost, but google had the HTML version of it in it's cache.

It definately appeared in either the times or independant. I thought it was the times, but at the end it seems to say that it came from the independant.

I'm gonna refrain from the petty insults, because once again, I'm right.

Look just to the left of the date of the article.

Then there's the link:

<a class="postlink" href="http://209.85.229.132/search?q=cache:OSK8eyMsHIgJ:203.115.192.117/Tuesday/pdf/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://209.85.229.132/search?q=cache:OS ... esday/pdf/</a>thesun2008122335.pdf

and online versions of the papers DEFINATELY drop articles left right and centre. I can vouch for having commented on several pieces on the times website that have just vanished within hours. like i say the only true record of what was printed are at your library. I aint going there. i've given you more than enough evidence, whatever you want to believe is up to you.

umm youre making a bit of an idiot out of yourself
Hughes is known to be
nursing a severe sense of
frustration about some of the
players he inherited, some of
whom he feels have got “too
comfortable” at the club and
are failing to set the
right example.
The Brazilian
midfielder Elano is, in
particular, considered
lazy and a negative
influence

does that sound like the sun to you? like i say, it came from a temporary web page that doesnt even exist anymore, but got caught in googles cache. I recognised it instantly as the article I read sipping coffee in a Pret a Manger.

You have got to be a WUM,you REALLY believe you know which of the unsubstantiated rumours in the football pages are true in a newspaper.
TBH who gives a fuck if any of the posts are right or wrong about a bust up,IF it was anything like the one Supurman had with him & it turns out the same way it'll do me.
Elano was injured on Sunday that's why he came off, btw.
