I was behind the goal when Curley scored that pen, my rag mate who was in the stretford end said he had never ever seen a set of fans celebrate a goal like we did that day, we went radio rentals. Curley bangs it in and and just calmly raises his fingers to signal one one...

Being in the Stretford Paddock just heightened the buzz. When we got in, we started noticing faces from The Kippax.

We all started bunching together and when the lads came out, the blue balloons went up.

Lads out of the Stretford End started to climb into the paddock just to give us grief.

Bastards started crushing us from above, but blues just pushed back.

Remember Tony Coton coming out for second half and he pissed his sides as we shouted Tony Give us a wave.

Does anybody remember the lad who ran pretty much from the paddock to the City end behind the goal and dived in after we scored penalty.

Incredible sight.

Kicked off everywhere as we came out of Paddock.

I bore myself going on about that game but it was a truly magical night.

I was stood in the 'official' away end but to see the pocket of Blues in the Stretford Padock was brilliant.

On another thread I think we established the lad that mobbed Curley was from Rusholme. Can someone remind us his name?

I was in the paddock that day. I was only young but remember going with my cousin and his mtes who were reds.

I moved over to the city lads in the paddock - i think near the half way line. At the end I think the police were trying to segregate us. Not sure...

I was actually sat in the Stretford End that day.. and I remember Varadi (I think) breing pushed in the penalty box in the last minute, and surprise, surprise, the twat of a ref waved play on.

We were actually the better team that day. But were robbed.

I think we actually scored a header in the last couple if mins but it was disallowed!

Well remembered!

10 men, you couldn't beat 10 echoing around the swamp, we got coined from the K stand if I remember rightly. Lots of fucking coins, well spent in the tuck shop the next morning.

there were regularlt blues in that part of the ground. I've been in every part of OT watching City in the past.

At the 86 cup game mention earlier plenty of Blues were being marched around the pitch and shoved into the away end.

Pre-hillsborough of course.

Did you younger fans know this? Before Hillsbrough you could pay in the opposition end in the knowledge that you would be escorted round to the home end.

Last time I saw it happen was Chesterfield 98. But the police weren't involved, Blues were just doing it themselves. One waded into the Chesterfield fans on his own and they all backed off. Or that might have been Reading away.

I remember seeing you all in that paddock and thinking how the fuck did you all manage to get tickets together ! That lad sprinting down touch line to jump in with us was quality.

The late Mikey Williams. He was selling tickets on the Maine Road croft at £20 a pop. Word got around the Moss Side fraternity and beyond.

I got mine and a mate's ticket off a Rag workmate. Think we paid £25 each - he said he had to get them off a tout and probably creamed a few quid off for himself. To be honest, I wasn't arsed as I just wanted to get in the ground and it was back in the days when I had no chance of getting one in our end due to only being a 2nd year ST holder.

I'd been in the paddock the year before with the Colin Hendry OG/Giggs debut and although there were a lot of us in there that day, there were even more this time around. There was such a buzz about being in their end with hundreds of other blues.

after years and years of selling mikey finally went to court for ticket touting outside old trafford, "why were you selling tickets outside old trafford" "i was just trying to get a ticket for my child who wanted to watch the game" - mikey was one of the biggest blues going though !
