A lot of building crews do it here in the summer, I did it for years, not a chance in hell I could do it now. When I built my house I was working four, ten hour shifts as a carpenter then Fri-Sunday worked on my place. Saved myself a lot of money but being in my thirties helped a bunch
My employer has been doing it for years. Works quite smoothly.
I was astonished at a so-called expert on Sky News today saying that it couldn't work in retail because they have to be open every day.

My work offer it but I don't want to.
Mainly because I'd feel like I have to work strict hours on the 4 working days whereas now it's pretty flexible so if I want to do the school run or go to the gym when I'm supposed to be working, they don't mind and I don't feel guilty.

I did something similar in May.
I left at noon on Friday and didn’t work Mondays. I didn’t work any extra hours though.

Seems to be quite common in the defence business, a lot of people at AWE in Aldermaston work 9 in 10.BAE here in Barrow have been doing this for years. In fact they promote it for vacancies

I work 8-5, five days a week. I wouldn't mind switching that to 7-5 for four days, and finish at midday on friday. Not going to happen, though.

If I had my hours up at one place then I’d finish 12:30pm on a Friday. Even if I needed anything then I’d still get home in time to avoid the rush hour. Used to be a great feeling.
