So him not playing is the reason for those poor resultsI don’t think it’s posters getting precious, it’s posters not having it when people misrepresent the reality. Jesus has 25 goals in 38 starts for City.
City with Jesus starting have a sensational record. I don’t think we’ve lost a league game he’s played in, certainly not started in.
He’s in a bit of a draught no doubt about it, but give him 4 starts in a row, give him 4 games against some of the cannon fodder we’ve faced and I’m sure that would change.
As I said earlier, Jesus has started some of our most difficult and important victories. Away at Chelsea, Spurs & United. 3 huge wins for us last season.
Where opposing views may get a little precious is with the idea that if Sergio was injured we’d struggle. People get precious because this idea is frankly bullshit. Statistically we actually improve with Jesus.
Our toughest away victories all came last year with Jesus, Sané & Sterling leafing the line.
Our 4 stand out poor results last season were Palace, Liverpool & Burnley away, United at home, Jesus played a total of 40 minutes in those 4 games. Agüero over 260 minutes in those same games.
Now, I’m certainly not blaming Agüero for those results.
But it puts to bed the idea that we’d be worse without Agüero.
We’re blessed to have both, Aguero is in the best form of his City career. But we’re lucky to have Jesus as his understudy.
We all hope he starts scoring soon, but he's averaging just 37 minutes per game so far this season in the PL, and that's not helping him one bit.I hope he starts scoring soon,we need a striker to be scoring, that is their primary job for me
We are lucky we have lots of different scorers but i know if there is one chance in a game i would rather it fall to sergio so far this season,he will be fine but needs a goal,i appreciate he creates space but that is using him like brazil do where he makes room for neymar but here he should be the one the others make room for if you see what i mean,no-one is writing him off or on his case,it's just the way it's going for him, there has to be a reason pep is not playing him muchWe all hope he starts scoring soon, but he's averaging just 37 minutes per game so far this season in the PL, and that's not helping him one bit.
The thing is though we don't need to rely on him scoring, because in the last 2 games alone, we've scored 8 times by 7 different players, so he can play his way back to form without the pressure of us relying on him, out of those 8 Sergio only has 1 himself, and Jesus contribution the other night was to create a goal for David, and open the space for Bernardo to score, both big contributions.
His form in front of goal is a hangover from the World Cup.
He was expected to lead the line for them as a 20 year old. He got a lot of slack over his lack of goals.
He's absolutely fine. All strikers go through a bit of a lean spell. All of them. He's got plenty of time. He needs one to go in off his backside from 3 yards.
In hindsight, if he took and scored that penalty against the 'Pool it would have brought him back
So him not playing is the reason for those poor results
Jesus is a fantastic, selfless team player. We are lucky to have him.
He will learn from them around him including Aguero and become a better player than he is at present. Brazil 9 & striker for City, the lad is doing just fine.
Agreed. My only issue with him is he caught offside far too often. This is something that he should really be working on and it can be improved. It’s getting ridiculous really, has been a problem for a while now. I suggest allow him one offside a game that he starts and anything more he get fined a weeks wages :)
Anelka would still be paying us to this day if that rule was in place
