Gabriel Jesus 2018-19 performances

He was again great though in his close control and link up play, not too sure about the criticism in this thread after we were winning 3-0 when he got on and had basically 1 good chance to score, even that was a tough one to take and he almost did it.

He wasn't great but he didn't exaclty have much supply or movement I thought. Nowhere near our worst player

Though he seems to have lost some of the confidence and Brazilian flair from when he joined.

He is many many years away from being good enough to be Aguero's replacement. If Aguero is leaving in a couple of years then we will need to go to the market again cos Jesus is nowhere near ready.

I hope I'm wrong but I simply don't see the desire there anymore with him. Played well within himself mostly since coming back from his injury.

I just don’t think he’s very good. He may work in a 442 with a goal scoring forward - a bit like Goater and Dickov

Not as goal hungry as Aguero is. Didn't do huge deals wrong, but you can feel the hunger to score when Aguero gets on, whereas Jesus is much more content to link up & play one-two's.

He's got more all round game than Aguero for me, but could do with absorbing some of that desire to score at all times that Aguero has.

Between them both forwards have scored in one game out of six. That’s not good enough. They both need to be scoring more. We
are not playing as well though. De Bruyne is a huge miss.

They weren’t they reason we lost though

For every game he plays, it looks like he takes a step backwards in his development. He actually looks worse today than when he started playing for us in january last year. You can see when Aguero comes on he has a desire to score goals and can create chances on his own, and Jesus doesn't have that ability. His performances right now probably depends a lot on confidence, but he is nowhere near Sergio's level. He misses way too many chances, makes lots of stupid fouls and is offside way too often. I know he's only 21 and still has a lot of time to learn, but at a club like Manchester City you have to show more than just some glimpses every third game

Not completely convinced by him in terms of being capable of reaching the world class level we need to be our main striker. He's a very good under study tho and the service in to him tonight was nonexistent.

Workrate, linkup, movement, pressing, positioning, and unselfishness. That's kind of the definition of a Pep striker. But Kun does that now too.

I know exactly where you are coming from with that mate but if you look at virtually every other striker Pep has managed they've all been goal machines.

He's not doing enough and I'll be the first one to raise my hand on that. He needs to progress.
