In the club yesterday (Palmeiras) they were saying the two main reasons Gabriel choose Man City instead of any of the other four giant clubs that were after him and presented a buying proposal (Juventus, ManCity, ManUnited and Barça) were:

1) Guardiola's phone call. First, he is a spaniard, so they were able to communicate on a "portunhol" that had some funny moments that helped to break the ice. Second, Pep said he has been following gabriel's carrier for a while, that he thinks he is destined to greatness in football and that he will make him be what he can be. It was said, from people who know him, that he went ecstatic... Imagine... 5 years ago you were playing in the streets of São Paulo... and now you have pep on the other side of a phone line asking you to play for him

2) The fact that ManCity understood the needs of Palmeiras to have the player til the end of the season. Gabriel is very grateful to Palmeiras, the team that opened the doors of international football to him and wants to fight for the title til the end. ManCity will lend the player til november and, in january, in the case that palmeiras classify to copa libertadores, we will try to extend the loan, which will depend on guardiola say so.

We paid £25m for one of the best midfielders in europe yaya toure at his peak , we paid £38m for a Aguero , who is now worth £100m , we beat Munich to sign KDB , and Barca to sign David Silva , if you are intent on putting our club down , then please get your facts right. We did miss out on Hazard and Isco over the last couple of seasons , but if seriously think MCFC are not a big club , or are only a big club because Pep has arrived , then i can only suggest there must be plenty of snide Rag shirts you could purchase in your area , you could then associate yourself with a "big" club.

You are on something or today is your bad day at work??? Let talk about your facts. Yaya at his peak on bench when he signed for us and remember when Kolo want to joint us Yaya say his brother could sign for a bigger club. Silva, Kun and KDB are already at their prime. I am talking about young talent as I call first hand product. Academy player classify as raw material. They may or may not become a product. Player at 18, 19 or 20 are first hand product for me. They are at the first or second year of professional football. It is very rare to find one at this age that already make their name in world football. All clubs want them. We have never signed this kind of the world level young talent ahead of other big clubs before, am I right? When these players grow up to 22, 23 they can become world class player sold for 200m, big player sold for 50m or average player. They are second hand product for m and if you not happy with how I view player just leave it but don't jump on my back.

I think he is suggesting he won't move until after Christmas. The boy deserves a holiday like everyone else, I'd imagine. General consensus seems to be he is joining us in January.
 
Can't be arsed checking but apart from our very own wonderkid which other Brazilian players are semi famous? it might have been because of my morning 5 skinner but I think I saw Oscar is in the team.

You insinuated we are not a big club , we have ALWAYS been a big club , MCFC was not founded when Sheik Mansour took over the club , you mistake a big club for a club that has won trophies , and we have previously signed top emerging top talent , most clubs in europe was after Georgi Kinkladze and he signed for City , Francis Lee was one of the most sought after forwards when we signed him from Bolton , Denis Law was another from Huddersfield Town , i could name a few more . Maybe you should spend more time perusing the rich history of MCFC , football was not invented in 2008.
