Anyone got any links to Arsenal forums where they talk about him? would be interesting too see what they're saying.
Not saying much. He was always a really nice guy and we all wish him well. Not gonna lie though, he went through 2 years of terrible form which was the reason why he himself left.
Kinda like how we got Vermaelen. Ajax fans thought he was average and every pundit around (even our own Tony Adams) said he wouldn't be good enough. Next thing you know he's one of our best players and scores 7 goals in his first season.
Some players just need a change in environment.
The change of environment will have played it's part i'm sure but i think the overriding factor in Gaels great form is that he is playing with better players in a better system which allows
him to have 100% confidence to play his own game. I mean that with no disrespect to Arsenal. Going forward with the likes of RVP, Walcott, Gervinho etc they look very good. And indeed i really rate Vermaelen and Sagna with Schenzy, very solid basis for a top defence.
But Wenger gets it all wrong. As was hinted by a previous poster if you want to challange for honors you simpley cannot have two attacking fullbacks who will inevitably be caught out of
position unless you have a top defensive midfielder who will sit infront of two quality centre backs and provide cover for any positional absences. Plus if you are to play that way you cannot just have the one class CB and a dodgey weak link and i'm affraid Mertesacker, Koschelny and Squillaci are all pretty poor.
Wenger and his coaching staff should have gone nuts out to get Cahill from Bolton, M'Vila from Rennes and kept hold of Clichy. A partnership of Cahill and Vermaelen infront of the excellent Schezny with Sagna and a confident Clichy attacking down the flanks with Yann M'Vila providing cover... That would be very tasty indeed and would have had you right up there competing for the title. As it stands i think you will be in a fight to finish in the top 4.
