No it doesn't. You get more for qualifying in the top 8 than you do for playing the 2 qualifiers for finishing 9-24

Forget the money side of it, PSG won it from 15th last season

So a play-off game gives you more money if you go through to the final and win it when you add it all up

But it doesn't if you go out at the same stage as a club that finished in the top 8.

Comfortable win last night.

Was a throw back to social distancing in level 3, with the spacing of vacant seats. Made life easy though and enjoyed it.

It would be a bigger nonsense changing the rules half way through due to a fan deciding the rules are bad when they are told we could face Real Madrid after both teams underperforming.
Nothing to do with who we might play. I just think this seeding nonsense is a joke, if you are good enough you will beat whoever you are drawn against regardless of which round it is. But they mess around with things so much it just becomes a joke. Finishing 23rd or 24th could see you play your home legs second all the way to the final if you win your last 16 game, why should that be the case but the team finishing 5th doesn't have that advantage.

It's not as black and white as that. Even amongst the people I know (a mix of season card members and ad-hoc buyers) , of those who didn't go, most said it was because we are playing boring football recently, in addition to the game wasn't massively important (as it wasn't a true make or break). Others just said they couldn't get a pass out as they'd been to so many home games recently, a few said it was financial. So to just say it's ticket prices I think could miss the point. The last thing the club would want is to reduce prices and then still have non-sellout games, they couldn't go back from that. I think they need to bring in a task force, including fans, to really understand what changes to make. Nothing should be off the cards, ticket prices, allocation of new seats in the NSL3 stand, third party vendors, the lot. Also, we should start playing progressive football again rather than 'pass anywhere but forward'
Just on the boring football comment from your mates, we're top home Prem scorers, top Prem FAC scorers etc.

The football can be slow and almost turgid at times but, that's certainly not helped by the officials and teams who just don't want to play against us.

If you go out in the play-offs or in the round 16 of the knockouts, there is not much difference
This new format of the Champions League is a joke, not only do you play more games in the league, but you also have a play-off place and then a round of 16 knockouts, so you can play 10 games to get into the last 16 or play 10 games losing in the last 16 from a top 8th place, Its Crazy

I think this is why we have struggled this season, Mix the League Cup rounds with the Champions League games and its starts to add up the amount of games we play, 10 games before Christams and 2 in january

I was expecting it to be a little fiesty tonight but our first shut them up. There was a small group sat near us that didn’t say a word until the Kurdish lads ran on the pitch and then they went crazy.
Forgetting the reputation they have I thought they were some of the best Euro away fans we’ve had for a while.
Indeed. Coffee cups (full) thrown from Colin Bell level 1 over level 0 toward the pitch. I didn't start a Free Kurdistan chant.

It does.
If you assume that the teams 1 to 16 are the best, then in the last sixteen teams 7/8 play 9/10.m which is us in this case.
1/2 play15/16
2/4 play 13/14
5/6 play 11/12.

The only difference is the play off stage which adds a bit of jeopardy where 9/10 play 23/24 and so on.
But that's exactly the point I'm making. It assumes that the top 16 are the best teams but it's not necessarily the case. Sure, they have to be at that point in time to have finished in a top 16 place over the respective matches but it still means that you could draw a Real Madrid team that may just have had a bad spell or been hit with injuries, as we were vs Bodo.

I get your point about not playing everybody but its not a draw I the sense of the FA cup but it is similar to the World Cup, Club World Cup, tennis tournaments etc. In that you have a defined path to the final
Must admit I'm not a fan either, doesn't seem right that one team gets through by playing against totally different opponents then another. I must prefer the random draw system of the FAC. Sure, you could get a much easier path to the final but it's always been a popular at format.

It’s fucking nonsense all the seeding, knowing who’ll you’ll play etc etc.
put every club in a hat, out you draw no seeding you get what you’re given.
And champions only in the European cup

I think the way it is organised is that the league phase just gets the ducks in a row for the knockout stage.
This new format means that we play a minimum of 8 different teams at least once. Previous to this it was playing 3 different teams twice.
Its just unfortunate that we may have to play one of the 3 teams mentioned in our next match.
If we had got a point from either Bodo or Leverkeusen , we would have avoided this scenario
While that might be true, you can't know that at the time. We might have got a point at Bodo but RM might have drawn last night so we might still be in a similar position.

I don't think anybody is suggesting that should happen, it's just a debate about what we believe may be a better format.
