Gareth Bale

Bale will struggle to have a repeat season of last, and Spurs still finished outside of the top 4.

I think they need to sign very very well this summer to challenge.

Paulinho is a good fit for Spurs be interesting to see if he or Fernandinho are the better player. Yes I know P gets capped for Brasil currently but thats purely because Ferna was at Shakhtar and didn't get the exposure away from the Ukranian League. Bale can't score that many great goals again in a season. I don't think he'll ever be worth more than he is right now. Surprised that Levy doesn't see this as he's a very shrewd operator. I know AVB wants to build a successful squad but that would give him the dosh to sign several quality players and truly enhance the squad to a level where they would maybe get in the top 4, but hey it's their call. Without selling him they'll be short of the top 4 again next year.

If Bale is going to be sold Spurs better line up some top class signings ASAP cos once people know they have the dosh ....

In a way thes be better selling for less if it meant that they could get in replacements ASAP.

Say for example that they needed a striker, say Dzeko, and a defender, say Lescott, and a winger, say ... I can't even say it.

Just remembered that Spurs are not in the CL. They therefore won't get players in any deal unless they are junior/surplus. So even if they get 100m for Bale they can only bring in players from non-CL teams and on large wages. Same as we had to do and Liverpool are doing.

That said its way way to late to sell Bale by choice. He'd have to kick up a sto to be left go I think. And I would doubt of that would happen. Better now to sell next season if Spurs can finish in the top 4.

They should have cashed in a month or do back when they still had time to use the money wisely.

How good is Soldado? Say compared to Negrado?

I'd say he's better but he'd demand a starting spot outright and I don't think he's better than Kun.

Negredos stats are better so simply hes better

When i was in Madrid last week i was asking my spanish mates their opinion, they said Negrado fights for every last cause whilst Saldado is similar to a flat track bully.

except they're not.

Ehh yea they are

Negredo goals per game: 0.42.
Soldado goals per game: 0.49.

Soldado gpg for Spain: 0.55.
Negredo gpg for Spain: 0.43.

Soldado for Valencia: 0.58.
Negredo for Sevilla: 0.50.

Soldado wins.

Glasses off, there's probably not too much in it. Arguable either way, but i would say Negredo is a better fit for our needs and will do better for us than Soldado would.

THey are different players. Paulinho is an attacking midfielder while Fernandinho is a box to box player. Much better defender. Better passer. Paulinho will score more goals.

Eh try who scored the most last season instead of bullshit stats like that

Soldado is more of a 'Spanish' striker and a little more clinical but Negredo offers most of a physical presence in the box that will benefit him in the Premier League. Negredo is taller, stronger and better in the air. Soldado is slightly more consistent. I think Negredo suits the Premier League more than Soldado and could find adapting easier. He's quite like an English striker and would be an ideal striker for England (if he was English).

Providing he stays fit, why would spurs sell?

Add Soldado, keep Bale, and maybe add one other to last seasons team, remembering that they already have got Paulinho and you've got a team that with a bit of luck could challenge for the title.

I agree with this.

With a 4-3-3 and invert Bale to a more goal scoring style winger.

Replace Lennon with Holtby, better end product and passing abilites.

Holtby----Soldado-----Bale

--Paulinho-Sandro-Dembele--

Rose-Vertonghen-Dawson-Walker

------------Lloris-----------

Very formidable PL team right there, title challenger possibly...

Certainly top four and if that is what they want with the possibility of a title to then aspire to...fair do's.

-- Tue Jul 23, 2013 9:34 pm --

Statistically pretty much the same thing.

Wildean epigrammatic retorts like this are wasted on the droogs in the transfer forum pal ... Have you perchance considered a literary career ?

Actually long term averages (assuming that is what those are) are a much better predictor than one season (especially when in that season they are pretty close).
