Gareth Bale

If spurs sell Bale all they need is 2 good strikers, Soldado seems like one of them. They will spend that £85m wisely i think.[/quote

AVB will get £50 million to spend in total, regardless of any money from selling Bale.

Wish we had Bale to sell for that price....would bite their hands off

If we had Bale we wouldn't be selling because I reckon with him in our side we would be looking at not only prem league but CL sucess as well. See there are links again for Barca chasing Kompany would you sell him for 50m?

He was last season

Remember Ronaldo's performances against City and Utd in the Champions League. I didn't think he was that special.

Fair point scouse, but what creative players can they buy with the cash, bearing in mind they do not have champions league football?

If you draw a blank within the first 15 seconds of asking this question then I think the sensible answer is to keep Bale.

With Bale money:
Eriksen
Soldado
Remy
Pastore
Shaw

None of them make up for the loss of bale. They're all quality players but none are world class. No doubt it makes there chances better for top 4, they will be still a few players short of a title challenge.

All Bale can really contribute is goals and assists and he's about as good at that as Mata.

Realistically Soldado + Pastore + Eriksen + Remy would contribute far more goals and assists than Bale can. Bale is involved in far less goals than a player like Reus.

He's had a wonderful season and become a headline player but he still finished 5th. Levy is overplaying his importance in some wierd power trip, like the Modric saga and Real are going ape because they've been snubbed too many times this summer and now they need to compete with Neymar and Gotze signings. Spurs couldn't have wished for a bettet situation, if they don't take it then they jeopardise their entire future. That 80m asset is a cruciate ligament from losing 65m or so of its value.

That's even assuming they can sign them all. I presume Pastore would have cost them a bomb.

I think the deal with Bale is the idea of "consistency". The times I've watched Bale, he seems to go missing for at least 60/70mins, then pops out of nowhere and scores a wondrous goal. The valuable thing about him is how often he does these stuff.

Bale is a really really good player, but 40m tops.

How this would piss off the rags!
