Not consistent enough. When his passing is off, which it is often, he's pretty much ineffective. When his passing is spot on he looks a real good player, but those games are getting few and far between.

Barry is one of our most consistent performers. Did ok today too. Covers a hell of a lot of ground for the useless and lazy Yaya - who we've been carrying all season.

Barry had a decent game, powder puff shot excepted, and got some good tackles in to help keep the pressure on. We'd be giving different views on a no. of players if not that winner. Would still like to see Milner alongside Barry.

Didn't do much today.Was ineffective the entire match.

Whenever he plays in there with Yaya he gets hung out to dry, Yaya is not a defensive mid for the simple reason he dosent pick people up off the ball, did you see how many times today Barry had too much ground to cover due to the fact that Yaya couldnt be arsed to get back.

Over the course of a season he is usually the most consistent player and makes others in the team better players than they would otherwise be.

Love him as a team player and stalwart and he should be in EVERY City team when fit.

He's the best defensive minded midfielder that we have. He can have good games and can have terrible games. This was neither.

He breaks plays up well, however he has no pace and his passing isn't great. Would people rather have Garcia in the side?

Gareth Barry is a very good player, a much under rated player by non blues and those who don't really understand football and the role he performs.

However he is not a top class player and if we want to move forward, improve and become a force in European football he is the kind of player we need to relegate to a squad/rotation role as backup to a player who can dominate the midfield and control the tempo of the game. Finding that player is obviously easier said than done. Barry is a world beater against the average Premier League teams we come up against most weeks, maybe I'm greedy but I want more than that.
