Barry isn't particularly fast, we all know that.
But I think some on here decry him for that a bit too much.
He covers the ground fast enough when there is a challenge to be made.
He only lacks a certain amount of pace when he has to turn due to ball in behind. This mainly happens due to poor pass from us.
Most times his experience puts him in the correct position.

I think the get rid comments on here are because we now have some nice
new shiny players. I think Barry deserves a bit more respect than that.

I agree with all of that. Excellent player and important member of the squad. Like Milner another with a cracking attitude and some real quality to boot.

Pellegrini's comments at the presser were very interesting.

Interviewer asks about Scott Sinclair, Pellegrini says: "Scott Sinclair is not here with the squad. Scott is in Manchester. Denis Suarez, Gareth Barry and Scott Sinclair are in Manchester."

Interviewer asked specifically about the three of them (not just Sinclair) and if they will be with City at the start of the season. Pellegrini replied: "We’ll see next week."

Barry has been linked with Napoli but I'm not sure he'd want to go abroad with his young family.

I spoke to him last night and he wants to stay, looking at his face i'd say he will not get his wish.

Heard a few weeks ago from someone reliable that Txiki has been trying to nudge him out. It's sad to see but 1 year left on his contract, monster wages for a player of his age/status, and approaching his 33rd birthday... you can sort of understand why the club wants rid now, especially with Rodwell looking quite special late last season plus Fernandinho arriving.

This, as much as I love him it's time to say goodbye..

I think he's been excellent for us, and my most enduring memory will be camel gob shitting it when Barry squared up to him in the derby. Top bloke.

The Bayern first half perfectly displayed his limitations,their midfield were running rings round him.

He has served us superbly but while we can still get a fee,now is the time to sell.

There were 3 Bayern midfielders and only 2 of ours, two of whom were Champions League winners and the other is one of the most promising talents in world football. They were also playing under a manager who insists on keeping possession, our two were always going to struggle.

I do accept that Barry is limited, especially against sides like Bayern but we won't be playing the best side in the world every week. However, against the majority of Premier League sides he's still more than useful.

If we could replace him with Matuidi or Gustavo we should do it but if we can't keep him. He can still do a job when we need to stiffen up the midfield.
