Garry Cook resigns (merged)

Re: Garry Cook resigns

He did great things for the club. Being in the public eye, with the criticism not just from the journalists but from supporters of the club, is tough on a family man with young kids. I wish him all the best. I also hope we can support the incoming CEO with ferocity and not allow people who don't have our club's best interests at heart to tear the new CEO down.

Re: Garry Cook resigns

My thoughts are:-

Garry Cook was going to leave in the near future anyhow. His wife and child went back to the US to live and he was always gonna follow. This incident, while unfortunate, allows Khaldoon to put in place a new CEO, while showing a positive result from this whole Nedums Mum email story. The action of the resignation will end this chapter and a new one begins.

I presume City will go all out for a big hitter to unite the various factions of the club and promote the club's image on a worldwide basis. I have no idea what ADUG's criteria will be. Kenyon? Blue and experienced, but various question marks. Dein? Has to be a possibility. I can't see Williams having the gravitas on a European scale. Outside of football there is DAvid Potts of Tesco, A City fan with a big reputation.
.

what's it matter if a CEO has a 'gravitas on a European scale'? Do you win football matches depending on how galactico the CEO is? Are you going to go up to Lio Messi and he's gonna say "I refuse to go to Manchester City because the CEO isn't a big enough name"?

If a businessman has potential to be CEO then you recruit him with faith, there's no need to get a CEO with a big name just because.

Eh?

You don't want some decrepid geezer with a Blackburn accent asking Lionel Messi "Coom down't City and you'll be reet 'appy"

Re: Garry Cook resigns

ive been told its laporta!!! a mate emailed me yesterday saying he`d been told that city had offered cook the chance to show some humility and resign rather than be sacked, thus allowing him to get a nice little thank you payoff behind the scenes.

Let's hope Nedum plays soon and suffers a career ending tackle.

Let's not. I cannot believe a City fan would make such a comment. I am truly appalled. Nedum is one of our own ffs. Go away prairemoon, and think about what you just wrote.

Don't agree with the career ending tackle comment, but Ned stopped being "one of our own" when his family went to the press.
And that was my point actually, "career ending" may be a tad harsh- regardless I would like to see Ned OUT! and if it takes a.harsh tackle so be it as long as he is never again in Blue.

Was it the fact he sent the email or was it the content..I guess we will never know

Probably more that he lied about sending it and blamed an unnamed staff member.

Stupid thing to lose your job over, but you just can't do something like that in his position.

Ned's contract up at the end of the year? Would love nothing more than to ruin his career by sticking him in the reserves for years and years.
Christ, some of the dross written on here...

I don't understand all the hate against Onuhoa, the Sun ecc. Cook put himself in this situation; he's the only one to blame.

Rubbish. Onuoha could have privately written to the club at the time and demanded a proper investigation. Instead though, she waited 11 months and then when Cook quite rightly (and acting in the best interests of Manchester City) refused to agree to her son's demand that we pay his wages whilst he swanned off to Everton on loan, she takes her 'story' to the newpapers. Sounds like spiteful woman territory to me. Cook's error was in inventing a mystery 'hacker' to cover his embarrassment at having inadvertently hit 'reply' instead of 'forward' on his email account.....a simple mistake that I'm certain everyone's made. It's ridiculous that he has to pay for it with his job. Onuoha should never ever ever play football for this club again.

When the story went public , if he would have apologized to Onhua's mother , than maybe he would have saved his job, instead he invented that stupid story about the hacked account that only put more embarrassment on the club.

he'll play carling cup only bar an injury crisis and in january we'll try and flog but now on our terms as they've used their ammo.
