Garry Cook resigns (merged)

Judge him from what I saw in a party, an City employee cut into his conversation and ask where he can find a permanent maker for a fan to get player autograph, Garry went to me and ask if he can borrow my maker and he strongly instruct his subordinate not to forget to return.
From this little thing, you can see how he works. He likes to involve in every little thing in his job and take care of every detail. I can imagine not every CEO would let his people to disturb him if it not that important for a CEO role. But Garry let his man know they are welcome no matter any issue.
Judge him from his reaction with media regarding conspiracy of sacking Hughes when they accuse our club and damage City image. I hope our new CEO will has the bold as much as Garry.
Still remember a city fan seek help from fellow Blue for his dad to see City match in hygiene environment. The club take the action and I hope our new CEO will take same action for any Blue in need.

Cook exit opens door for Jazira CEO at Manchester City

ABU DHABI // Phil Anderton, the chief executive at Al Jazira, could be involved in any executive reshuffle at Manchester City following the resignation of Garry Cook yesterday.

Cook conceded he made an "error of judgement" in mistakenly sending an offensive email to the mother of Nedum Onuoha, the City defender, which prompted an internal investigation. The email - intended for City's football administrator Brian Marwood - appeared to mock Onuoha's mother, who was suffering from cancer.

The departure of Cook leaves a void in the corridors of power at the Etihad Stadium and an opening for Anderton.

He was headhunted by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, the chairman of Al Jazira and owner of City, for the position at Jazira and interviewed by Cook and an Abu Dhabi-based City executive.

Anderton took up his role at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in January 2010, and has impressed his paymasters by attracting a record crowd of 28,164 for a domestic UAE game, and overseeing the club's league and cup double last season.

John Macbeath, a director, has been installed as City's temporary CEO, but Anderton could work in tandem with John Williams, the former Blackburn Rovers chairman who joined City's football operations team in July.

Keen to build their global brand, City may transfer Anderton, whose background is ostensibly in marketing, from Abu Dhabi to Manchester, particularly as the outgoing Cook played an instrumental key role in the club's commercial growth.

Anderton was based in the United States as the global brand ambassador for Coca-Cola and has held various executive positions in sport, including the Scottish Rugby Union and the ATP World Tennis Tour.

His nickname is "Firework Phil", because he provided lavish firework displays and entertainment before rugby games at Murrayfield, the home of the Scottish Rugby Union. These were criticised by Sir Clive Woodward as a distraction, and by Matt Dawson as a waste of the SRU's money, after the Calcutta Cup game in Edinburgh in 2004, but Anderton was unrepentant on both counts.

Anyone who upsets Matt Dawson can't be all bad

He really is a nice bloke and I will personally miss this presence - I hope to god we get someone half as good as him,.
Who hasn't made gaffs in e-mails and the like, twitter, facebook, blah blah blah - we live our lives in constant scrutiny, only not so public as Cookie, he was constantly shot at and under the microscope - I for one wish him good luck! (not that he'll need it mind) he brought City to the world stage and equipped us with one of the best teams on this planet, he was always going to go at the end of the 2011 season anyway tbf, his family all relocated back to Portland, Oregon USA earlier this year, - some 5,500 miles away from Manchester England, hardly commutable travel over the long term.
So cheer up! and salute the best chairman we EVER had...Cooke will always be a blue for me ;-)
onwards and upwards.

top guy! didn't expect he will moved from Al-Jazira to City already considering he was only here for a year n half!

he transformed the Sheikh local club from being an ordinary UAE club to one of the most professional and respected club in the Gulf and even Asia!

this is great news for us, Phil is highly respected gentlemen who works closely with the Sheikh and have his trust! I have no doubt that he will be the perfect replacement for Garry Cook despite the huge difference between the 2 clubs.

Some fuckwit comments on this topic, same as usual for Bluemoon, you've got to laugh, if it's not Cook it has to be Steve Jobs or Bill Gates, FFS might as well get Oprah Winfrey in to clean the carsey's!
From my own little run in with Mr Cook I can only say he's a self centred prick, to all those who are talking as though he's single handedly transformed City into what they are today I'd say pull your heads out of your poo shoots.
Money has gotten us to where we are, not some Tommy Cooper lookalike shoe salesman in charge of a company that doesn't even have to not make a loss!
CEO's aren't two a penny (mainly because they're vastly overpaid) but they are plentiful. Face facts, this is a horse that's going to win no matter what Jockey you put in the saddle.
Good riddance to an overpaid twerp!

We should never let a witch hunt divide us. The media have a lot to answer for. A good man has fallen on his sword to protect our Club from this vindictive media campaign against us. I for one hope that Nedum never puts on a City shirt again.
