Garry Cook resigns (merged)

I don't think a thread about his resignation should be merged with one on his legacy.

As for his legacy, I genuinely believe that 90% of the good things he has achieved would not be beyond anyone on this forum. To praise Garry Cook does a disservice to the chairman and owner.

I know he's told a lot of fans what they want to hear (the same way Thaksin did), but look at the wage structure, look at the enemies he's made, look at the way the club's name has been dragged through the mud. Well done will always be better than well said. And for all his demagoguery and buying some gullible bloke a pint, I can't help but feel this is a good day for the club.

I agree! I started that and its a different aspect entirely from his departure.
I don't,it's just attention seeking like the threads that have been merged into here.

I wonder if Marwood is going to stick around?
I think that's a very, very good question.

Indeed.

Not a snowball in hell's chance... Mancini will smell blood now!

Carlos has been telling us for 12 months that Cook & Marwood are not to be trusted. maybe he was right all along!

Also, as Zin alluded to earlier.... What was the original email to Mrs Onahua that generated the 'ravaged with cancer' comment.... Marwood may have been equally unprofessional...

Balotelli will be driven out of the club next by the media probably. Don't think Marwood is controversial enough for the media scum to target.

He won't be getting many games anyway imo.

Why would he walk away from a powerful role at the richest club in the world?

Because his mate dropped one clanger too many? Doubt it.

Personally, and I'm no great fan of Marwood's, I doubt the board would sanction further bloodletting. In the medium term, maybe.

I suppose he might find himself a bit further down the effective pecking order as part of any immediate reshuffle.

If any of his emails towards Dr No were disrespectful or unprofessional why weren't they featured in the stories?

Anyway, he certainly didn't get caught, and it wasn't the latest in a long line of stories.

i was unfortunate enough to work for a large multi PLC a few years ago, and we had 3 MD's in 4 years...an absolute nightmare, with in fighting, bitching, office politics and worse of all was the lack of direction or constant changing of goalposts

what started it all?........each new md wanted to bring in their own personell and staff

hope this doesnt rock the boat too much, but i can see at least 2 or 3 others following and a lot of new faces
Could not agree more. Seen it many times also. Better the devil you know very often.

Flipping 'eck.... surely saying that the owner and chairman have been paying somebody 1.5m a year for doing things that 90% of this forum are capable of, is doing them a disservice.

How much was Hughes on?

He was offered a chance too, like Cook, but proved that he was incompetent, as was Cook.

Manchester City move on.

I didn’t think that Cook was particularly ‘media friendly’ which I suppose you have to be these days in that job. Having said that I think that if he’s had to resign over the ‘mockery’ issue, then it’s a fucking joke. If he resigned because he lied about the source, that’s a different matter.

From what I have read, there was no ‘mockery’ of cancer involved - he mocked the the use of Mrs/Dr or whatever the fuck she is Onouha’s use of the term ‘ravaged’. She was the one who brought her illness into the debate and therefore, if she’s prepared to use this as a lever in negotiations, she shouldn’t expect fawning sympathy from those on the receiving end of it.

As for Onuoha junior, big organisations have a way of getting even and therefore he might have to accept protracted periods without a game, extended periods in the reserves and a process of seeing his career go so far backwards that he never realises his full potential. In the long term, a team like Swansea or Norwich beacon’s for him and Dr Onouha might just have to reflect on how she contributed to fucking up her son’s career.

How the fuck is it attention seeking? Woooo look at me, I started a thread? If thats all it takes to sate your ego then fair play to you. Personally if I want attention I require a little more than the perceived 'power trip' of being a thread starter. Also there's the fact that I'm not 12 years of age.
I had a legitimate reason for asking what people thought of Cook's achievements.
