Garry Cook resigns (merged)

The guy has done a top top job,

no matter if you like him or not hes done what was required, alot of people love to jump on peoples backs on this forum, he has massively improved sponsorship and the brand of the club you could argue this would of happened with or without him but the point is we just dont know.

some people will never be happy

When Cook came (May 2008) Mackintosh was CEO but the intention was to get rid of him at the earliest opportunity. So they had to give him a different title although he was in all respects CEO. Hence Executive Chairman.

Mackintosh left on June 10th, a week after Hughes was appointed and Coo kthen took the title of CEO.

I don't,it's just attention seeking like the threads that have been merged into here.

I think someone need to explain to you the concept of a forum.
And I think you need to know what he means. And I agree with him.

I am well aware of what he means. And most of the time I would agree there is an unnecessary proliferation of threads.

But a story of this magnitude merits a number of different questions. Clearly Cook leaving, the reasons for it and the immediate impact on the club can all fall under roughly the same heading.

But I would state that a discussion of the legacy that Cook left is entirely worthy of a separate thread.

There has to be a balance on a forum but LT creating a thread on a more reflective, rather than a reactive matter, is the right side of the line and calling him attention seeking for so doing is certainly the wrong side.

Guardian:

It is unlikely that John Williams, the former Blackburn chairman now working with Marwood on player sales and contracts, will be that man, nor Peter Kenyon, the former Chelsea chief executive whose name was being floated on Friday. City will look for an experienced executive who can combine zealous commercial ambition with an appreciation of City's identity as a club, and its fans bred on loyalty in failure.

Very good, the daily fail also says today that his 3 1/2 year reign as CEO came to an end, so he must have resigned as executive chairman after a couple of days.

No he changed title half way through
That link contains:
“In line with the strategy that Mark Hughes and I presented to the Chairman in February, we have created a new position of Football Administration Officer, which will ensure that the coaching, medical and playing staff at Carrington and the Platt Lane Academy get world leading support at every level.”

HE PRESENTED TO THE CHAIRMAN - Call him chief exec or exec chair, he was never the club chairman!

He was using the title of exec chairman for at least a year after that.

Paul Aldridge was the Chief Operating Officer.

Mackintosh did not have the O, as we are in England.

Just look in any programmes.

Sad but inevitable. In reality he had taken us as far as he was capable anyway. The fact his wife and kids were already back in the states showed that he was not going to be here for long anyway.

On the marketing side he did a brilliant job the best case would have been him stepping sideways and just handling that side of the business with a safe guaranteed no fuck up figure head like Williams to shake hands and speak to the media agents and players. And run the operational side of the club.

Unfortunately this was one pr gaffe to far. You got to love his hart on sleeve honesty but this guy was never ment to be front of stage in the public eye it's just not in his make up.

You were denying he was executive chairman on the previous page. Are you confused?

Thanks Corky. I wasn't sure exactly when he took the CEO title but was trying to point out he was Executive chairman and why.
