Garry Cook resigns (merged)

Before Abu Dhabi take over, Dr. Thaksin was chairman and Cook was executive chairman.
After take over, Khadoon is Chairman, and Cook is CEO.

I think someone need to explain to you the concept of a forum.
And I think you need to know what he means. And I agree with him.

I am well aware of what he means. And most of the time I would agree there is an unnecessary proliferation of threads.

But a story of this magnitude merits a number of different questions. Clearly Cook leaving, the reasons for it and the immediate impact on the club can all fall under roughly the same heading.

But I would state that a discussion of the legacy that Cook left is entirely worthy of a separate thread.

There has to be a balance on a forum but LT creating a thread on a more reflective, rather than a reactive matter, is the right side of the line and calling him attention seeking for so doing is certainly the wrong side.
My argument was not with concept of what you are saying, it was more to do with the fact that you sounded like a mod.

A good man has fallen on his sword to protect our Club from this vindictive media campaign against us.

FFS!

Well if you dont think that making us into a global brand is important, then go for a lie down and count the sheeeep.............aaahhhh snoooze, ermm umph snore

Avoiding getting into a discussion about the cliched and much spoken 'global brand' soundbite, whether we are, were or have become such and what achieves such status - not that the term is used much amongst fans outside of existence as a throwaway line anyway - are you honestly defending the ridiculous "falling on sword" comment above?

Is the spin now that Garry is a modern day, moralistic hero, selflessly sacrificing himself in order to protect City from the forces of evil?

Cause that is what that quote is seeking to project.

That's a spin that Garry himself would be proud of! Brother!

Very good, the daily fail also says today that his 3 1/2 year reign as CEO came to an end, so he must have resigned as executive chairman after a couple of days.

No he changed title half way through
That link contains:
“In line with the strategy that Mark Hughes and I presented to the Chairman in February, we have created a new position of Football Administration Officer, which will ensure that the coaching, medical and playing staff at Carrington and the Platt Lane Academy get world leading support at every level.”

HE PRESENTED TO THE CHAIRMAN - Call him chief exec or exec chair, he was never the club chairman!

He was Executive Chairman before Abu Dhabi take over, if I remember correctly
No, you rememeber incorrectly, he became CEO in 2008 when he came to City under the Thai tax dodger.

Exec Chairman like I said, and so did Thai. Not CEO in 2008 as you said.

How hard is it?

door open for GC to be executive marketing man for north/south America. & far east ?

PLEASE BAN THE SUN FROM THE PREES ROOM!

Never liked him.
How hard could it of been to run a buisness with the backing of billionaires.
yes we have moved forward, but he is not soley responsible for this.
thought he was a wanker at times...didnt like the way at certain away games he would come and wave and clap the fans (aris)...(aka who the f**king hell are you). He was on a tremendous contract, will get a good handshake from the club. Thanks Gary and all that...but you showed your colours with your classless email - which you denied, lied about and have now been found out.
Cant believe we've got 60 pages worshipping the ground he walked on!!!
rant over

Whilst I'm sorry that the faux outrage has in the end lead to Cook's resignation, I am somewhat heartened by this thread.

We have had the early return of Didders who just couldn't miss the chance to put the boot into city. The re-branding of Ned's mum as Dr O, the new supper villain. The suggestion that Steve Jobs be the next CEO, (note to Dr O. take a look at Jobs if you want to know what ravaged really means.). And my personal favorite was the article about Darren Anderton being lined up.

Whatever misfortunes befall the club, bluemoon will continue to prosper.

Wrong, he's been refered to as CEO from day one, a CEO being refered to as an executive chairman is not unusual, there wasn't a moment when it has changed at all and it certainly doesn't validate the claim that he was our club chairman at any time.

Haha! I've been called lots of things...

Sorry to offend! I'll try to sound more like a cog in the wheel in future ;-)
