Gas & Electricity

My direct debit just went down after my month experiment of no lights and not leaving anything , bar the sky q box and tv ,plugged in when not in use , the chargers use energy if left plugged in even with no device attached , i can do it living alone so i am lucky in that way , monthly readings of course

i have been using my ceiling fan on the record breaking hot days so it will be interesting to see how much that has used , my shock will not be till i come off the fix in dec , hopefully the four hundred will really help me as a low user ,i am sorry for families that cant use less energy

The government can fix this if they want to. They could install solar panels for any house/roof space that wants them. It would be a similar cost to HS2 and they don't have to look into solar farms wasting valuable farm land. Also give set the export tariff to be the same cost as the import tariff. That should remove the need to use gas for electricity production completely which means the electricity prices should drop to next to nothing. Heating is a big problem though

Just had an email off octopus with a link to a tool that predices your bills. My dearest will be in Jan, a whopping £619 quid!! If I carry on paying £190 per month I'll be 2k in debt by next July. Staggering.

Massive gain in uk natural gas prices today up 7.5%. The energy price cap will just be going higher

2nd Generation Air source heat pumps are much improved linked with solar will provide heating its where the money comes from to install or the capacity to manufacture is.

I’d happily have solar panels, the cost at the moment is expensive, government should be bringing back lots of grants and insisting EVERY new home has them fitted. The cost drops the more people have them, At the moment I think it’s about £6k for my house without battery, I’d probably get that back in 2 years at the moment it used to be 10/15 years but at these prices I’m seriously thinking of doing it. But we really need to save 20 mins on a trip to London instead dont we!

yeah which is why the government should pay for them. Cancel HS2 and give people solar panels instead. It's the same cost and given a vote of saving money on my electric bill or getting to London 20 minutes quicker I know which one I'd want

They're not worth it without decent export tariffs or a battery. I've been playing around with the idea of getting an electric car but one that acts as a battery to power the home as well as being a car. Charge it up at night for 7p per Kwh and live off that for the day. I very rarely go on long trips away from home anymore so the car just sits there doing nothing. VTH is the technology that let's you do this and there's only a choice of around 6 cars I think. I've signed up for this trial https://www.indra.co.uk/ If I get selected I'll probably jump on it as I need a new car anyway

At least giving grants would go some way to helping towards the cost, maybe they need to get one of their friends to own a few of the companies ;)
