Gas & Electricity

Fully agreed mate. I grew up not fond of the police to put it lightly. Now I know why they treat people with disdain, they get abused of not attacked constantly.
I'm just a technician at a high school. I make sure the kids don't cut their fingers off on the band saw, First Aider and drive the mini bus. My take home is 15 grand a year.
I do it cos I love it and the holidays are great for my kids. But I work as hard as I did in the private sector for some **** sat on a yacht. Not again
You aren't "just" anything though. You are an integral part of the public service, never forget that and dont let anyone EVER put you down.

I'm astonished at how much the prices are increasing in the UK, and watching from outside, it seems like absolute bollocks. I know wholesale prices have increased and everything, but I'm in Malaysia, and I don't see the same sort of insane increases as the UK. I pay between 8.4p and 9.8p per KWH depending on how much I use. The UK is currently at 18.9p and is expected to rise to 52p.

Now Malaysia hasn't imposed sanctions on Russia, but actually they get almost all of their natural gas (the main source of energy) from Australia and Brunei, and in coal supply, Russia is a distant second to Indonesia.

For the record, we have a nationalized energy company, so that might have something to do with it.

No, and I’ve never understood the naivety of public sector employees when it comes to ‘understanding’ just where their money comes from, but hey ho, we're all stupid here, aren’t we.

What's the worth of someone who saves a life in hospital, cares for a life in hospital or an end of life in hospital compared to a keyboard tapper pushing numbers around to make profit?

Those 'naive' public sector workers go into the profession caring for the well-being of [and] Human Life.

Congrats on sussing out the stupidity of paying them an actual wage that reflects their work. Let them continue to food banks, the workshy tw@s...

Most people go in to the public sector because it's considered a ‘job for life’ secure, fair enough. Safe in that knowledge that the government will always stump up the cash, come rain or shine - no lay offs, no redundancies - pensions, holidays, the government put taxes up on the private sector to endlessly fund it all - blah blah...you know how it works, well, new news!...the banks are empty and were all in it together now, even you lot - and we're all fucked! apart from the guy on 100k who has the gall to announce on a post about fuel poverty? you could not make it up - like some sick voyeur, lapping up the misery he casually floats above., removed from.

Why don't you give over mate, or start a thread?

Back on topic, I live in a studio flat. My direct debit has been 33 quid a month since I moved here in 2019, and I've never gone above 12 quid in usage.
I know not everyone can do the same, but there's something to be said for all of us reevaluating our carbon footprint shite
