Gas & Electricity

Jeez that's terrible timing.

Is there anything you / a plumber can do to reduce the risk of damage from the possibility of frozen pipes?

Hope you can get things sorted asap.
Luckily ‘thermal mass’ will keep him ok for more than a few days.
And when would the worst time be for the boiler to fail? This evening at some point I hear you say? Bugger, it's bloody cold now.
Were you expecting it or have any idea what’s happened ?

Bloody hell it must have been cold last night my minimum temp on the boiler is 15 degrees it must’ve kicked in as I’ve nearly used £3 by 8am! And it’s nit even reached 17 in the house.

As freezing as it's been, we've managed to cut down hugely on our gas usage compared to last winter. Central heating is on a timer - 1 hour in the morning and 3 hours in the evening - which is unchanged from last year. But the biggie so far is that we've not had the gas fire on at all when last winter it was on all day most days. That's what was using most gas and I wouldn't mind but it's a shite fire that doesn't give off enough heat IMO. We're going to get it replaced with a log burner sometime next year in time for next winter. I'm lucky that my fix with EDF doesn't end until September next year so my bills aren't anywhere near as horrific as many others even if I was using more gas but if I can get into the habit of not using as much gas now then that should help going forward.

Spot on.
I have been helping family members with PIP applications for years.
It’s dehumanising and deliberately designed to put you off applying in the first place. A 40 page application for fucks sake!
I enjoy going to the interview though with people and sitting there writing everything down that is said. Doesn’t half put the willys up the unqualified twonk doing the interview.

Thermal mass? Cheeky bugger, I'm not that over weight.

No warning, it's a council house so I'm waiting for a call after my email last night. I was tempted to phone the emergency line but at 10pm I was 11th in-line so I thought bugger that and went to bed with an extra cover on it. I was soooo reluctant to get out this morning but my bladder disagreed.

What I did discover (and perhaps should have noticed) was that it's not been serviced since May 2021 :(

In 11 days I have used just gas, £164 I shit you not electric not to bad probably around £35 never the less that’s £199 in 11 days our mortgage is £1,100 a month so with council tax water rates etc etc it’s close to £2,500 a month outlay then food fuel leisure on top of that it’s crazy

Our temp in the front room is 13-14C when I got up this morning and with no working boiler it's not going to get any warmer. I've also just discovered that the electric fire which hasn't been used for nearly 5 years doesn't work. It's been buried behind various potted plants for all that time, I'm going to have to pop the surround off to check I didn't isolate it in the extension at the back.

STILL not received my December fuel payment from British Gas.

Was told last week it would be on my meter by today or I will of received an email this morning with a voucher for the credit. I've received neither.

Currently 112 in a queue to speak to someone. Really pissed off about this
