Gas & Electricity

Bloody horrendous. It’s not like we are wasteful. It’s a Victorian house with sash and case windows. Because its listed we can’t put in double glazing.
It’s a farce that you’re not allowed to put double glazing in. I saw a news feature a while back on a school that had the same issue. Ludicrous.

I just got the bill for the last 4 months combined gas and electricity.
5 bedroom victorian semi, thermostat at 20c but internal temp usually only gets to 19c. £2700.
Thats mental, just worked out my 5 bed detached which was built late 60s and over the last 4 months we've used £800 albeit that we are still on a discounted rate from Oct 2021. Temperature is set to 20 deg during day until 10pm and 15 deg on a night until 6am.

I was with one of the energy companies that went bust. So my account taken over by British Gas so I have been paying full wack since early last year. Hopefully prices will come down before you have to renew.

Just had my winter Gas Bill for over £700. Are they supposed to show the Government deductions on it because I cannot see it and it’s over 100% increase on last year ?

You can buy bespoke double glazed timber sash and case windows, but is it another reason you are prevented? Would be costly I would imagine but you could just do the main living areas first.

Our winter bill is usually around £500, because at our age we need the heating on constantly. Dreading it…….

Horrendous. Stop cooking and wear 5 layers. Move house.

thanks mate. We have a protected yellow glass in the top panels that we cant replace so the best we could do is double glaze the ground floor and half the upstairs windows. We have 30 or so windows, many of them large so its an expensive business for an incomplete solution. We would both be pushing up daisies before we got half our investment back. Hopefully the worst is over and we can reign the heating back. If the energy market settles down a little I'll look to get as far from British Gas as I can.
