Gas & Electricity

i thought it had to have a kiln dried cert to sell now
didn’t say kiln dried, I said dried out for the year, the stuff is dry as a bone, I’m happy with it, will see how we go over winter, if you look at the hetas certificated sellers it’s like everything its a licence to print money, I’ll be getting my own wood over the coming year to dry out for next winter, walk the dog loads where there is lots lying about, bring a few pieces back each time will add up.

My monthly bill for gas and electric has dropped from £218 a month to £100 a month, that's without me ringing them or getting in touch with the..
We're with E.on.
I've received emails from them offering fixed price deals starting at £170 a month. Er no thanks.

I'm going to see how long I can go before they realise I'm on a lower deal than the ones they are offering. This is the 2nd month it's stayed on 100 a month. Fuck em.

Isn't that just a seasonal thing though mate, whilst the weather in general has been a bit warmer?

Mine has been about £100 these last 2 months but fully expect it to atleast double when we head into October

I don't think so mate but who knows. I did get emails beforehand saying it was coming down after the rise through covid and all the other nonsense.
I think I'll keep it in mind for the winter months ahead and maybe get on one of their fixed tariffs.
Cheers for the heads up.

Hardwood mate and yep it’s below 20%, glad to see the experts and greenies on here, got it from a tree surgeon who seasons it over a year.
Buy yourself a wood moisture meter off ebay or Amazon, only £10-£20. If hes keeping a load of wood together you never know and if 1 year seasoned may not be as described. Hopefully it is like, but check it first cos burning over 20% wont get hot and will soot the place up and doesnt get hot anyway. Good investment of a little gadget

If you've been on a variable the whole time then just be careful, as your usage will have dropped significantly over the last few months while it's warmer and brighter.

I think the general cost has come down slightly, but don't get suckered into thinking it'll stay around £100. That's not to say a fixed of £170 all year is worth it either as you may end up paying too much, but I suppose at least you've got some comfort of having fixed it.

Plenty of wood out there, I’ve never yet paid for wood and had three multi fuel burners over the years.
