Gas & Electricity

How bigs your house? 5-600 a month!!
Modern technology is partly responsible. A dozen CCTV cameras, monitored alarm. Multiple PS4/PS5 for the kids. Including large screen TV's.
Then Echo devices in each room, running 24/7.
Then the normal shit for five people, like washing machine/dryer. Summer (small) pool heating.
Trust me, it was killing me. Hence the relief the new overnight tariff was giving me!

This is why i dont want a smart meter, rather give monthly readings instead , just fixed with ovo as you dont need a smart meter , one year £60 a month
The main use is half price electric overnight. So they need data to see when you used electric etc.
The displays in the house are just "worry clocks". It's not like you just sit there and think "Hmm why not use some electric"! LOL...
Mind you, they did show me which devices eat the electric.

Switched to Tomato Energy Agile today, cheap as fuck will post in a months time how I get on. They only bill you for what you have used that month, left my Gas with Octopus on the tracker.

Anybody had their smart meter not send readings?
We have to allow 30 mins readings to get our overnight electric tariff. From 00.00 to 05.00 we pay 12.9p kw.
We have been using this to do almost anything including charging the EV car, washer/dryer, dishwasher. It has made a massive difference to our bills.
I noticed EDF hadn't got any reading from 17th Oct. However, the smart display in the house is still getting data, and my ivie smart app is still showing current data, so the actual meter is working.

EDF have just asked us to send them a current reading. I've refused on the grounds it won't show the cheaper overnight tariff.
I assume they can recover the data manually, maybe by somebody coming to the house. If not, what happens to my discount overnight rate? It will almost double my bill if they cannot access my discount rate.
I have a smart meter supplied by Octopus. Gas readings have been extremely helpful in helping me manage my gas consumption. Electricity readings worked for two days and haven't worked since. Meter has been replaced and they still cant get the Electricity readings to work. They ended up giving me £100 for my trouble. Fair enough but i would rather have a fully working smart rmeter.

We found Octopus to be really good on this after we moved from the debacle that is known as Scottish Power. It did take a couple of weeks for the meter to start communicating correctly but it has been faultless for the last 3 years or so.

Mine has not been working for over a year despite multiple attempts from them to connect the electricity. I do agree with you that they are far better and more responsive than the others (in my case British Gas)

They run off a sim card, you have really bad signal in your house/area?

Doesn’t that depend on the part of the country you are in? South is mobile phone network, North is radio, with the demarcation broadly around a line drawn Liverpool to Hull.

Mobile phone signal can be boosted, the radio signal can’t.

That’s what Panorama said anyway.

I'm in Cheshire and mine says Cellular data on the front of it, I didn't watch that Panorama so no idea about radio signals could be though.
