It's the day before the Euro quarter finals so maybe he's timed it so England are still in and there's a feel good factor before we lose on penalties the following day.

Thought that entire announcement was one of the most British things I’ve ever seen! Sunak announcing a summer election when it’s pissing down with rain with no umbrella, despite them spending a few million on a brand new media briefing room, and also being simultaneously drowned out by that song too was all just beyond satire, it was that good.
You do wonder who the fuck his PR people are. Can imagine them suggesting the British people will vote for someone piss wet through, willing to sacrifice their suit for the public. Great image of a strong leader. Should have got a Newcastle United tattoo and done it shirtless the soft bastard.
