A good illustration that the Covid excuse doesn’t wash. It hit us harder than most other countries due to the inept handling of it by the government and recovered more weakly than most other countries due to Brexit. The only major outlier that has done worse than us in recent years and that the Tories cling to as some sort of vindication of their policies is Germany which had its economy decimated by over reliance on Russian gas, whereas the impact on us was minimal by comparison.
