An authoritarian labour party with a supermajority?

Why would that be a good thing for the country?

A majority of 50 is as good as a majority of 250 in terms of passing legislation. A majority of 250 means too many MPs to keep happy with jobs etc and gives licence to many to act as a de facto opposition and discipline breaks down.

So, I wouldn’t worry just yet. Meanwhile, I’m enjoying the prospect of a Tory wipeout :)

Having one party with such a majority is pretty much always a bad thing (except perhaps in wartime) as it prevents effective opposition. I would say the same no matter which party it was and what I thought of them. As hilarious as it would be seeing Tories go the way of the dodo.

Therefore, I propose the only realistic answer we have is Ed Davey and his inflatable rubber ring. Now that's a man who has his priorities straight.

I am convinced Sunak is deliberately trying to lose. It’s the only thing that makes sense. Probably getting his Californian place decorated ready for July!

He’s just really, really bad at politics.

It’s blindingly obvious he’s given up any hope of winning and doesn’t believe in any of these mental policies, it’s all about clamouring back as much of the Reform gammon vote as they can.
