How the fuck they get grouped into being a 'progressive party' when they were complicit in the worst of austerity is truly amazing.

Clegg saw a sniff of power and threw his entire party under the bus to get it, and did virtually nothing to counterbalance the Conservative austerity policies.

He’s a traitor to his party.

And I say this as someone who has voted Lib Dem several times.

It's not just on Clegg. It was a Lib Dem who released the private "no money left" note that is STILL brought up by Tory voters as a reason they wouldn't vote Labour.

I support PR, but I think a lot of people hark back to Thatcher in the 80s, and how everyone else seemed reasonable in comparison.

Since then, we've seen the LDs support austerity in power and still go into the next election supporting the Tories. But we've also had the rise of right wing populist parties, and the absolute nut-job conspiracists at Reform polling way above the Greens or SNP.

I just don't seen any kind of genuine 'progressive alliance' that's further left than the current Labour party.

I think they're notorious teases.

But at some point, does their re-weighting have to take into account whether things really will change in the space of a month? Given they're in the forecasters group, they're already moving a lot of votes from Labour to Tory - so they should be the least affected by a campaign IF things narrow as they expected.

Their previous two Labour leads were 14 (last week), and 18 the week before, so it could be a jump over 20 or a quirky drop to single figures, but that seems unlikely given no-one else seems to be dropping so quickly.

Consider me teased and a little bit tickled at the prospect of the Tories getting 60 - 70 seats :)

That said I don’t expect it to happen, nor imo do the pollsters/forecasters, yet is this belief more conditioned by decades of the Tories always being there or thereabouts, as much as anything else?

The Labour lead is broad, and by definition, shallow across England. Add in the Labour resurgence in Scotland and are we witnessing a black swan moment in election history? A moment that we can currently joke about on here, but in our hearts can’t really believe will happen?

The Tory campaign is literally a one man band. Sunak popping up here and there with his famous ‘people skills’ and tribute act to the 1950s. Everyone else is pretending they aren’t Tories or gone on holiday. Is Sunak going to neuter the desire to fuck the Tories into oblivion or feed it? I mean, five weeks of Sunak grinning in the face of us plebs? That’s the Tory campaign?

One of the people at Opinium has suggested that MRPs might "break" when you get huge leads for one party.

Another suggested the same, but then wondered if there was even any need for an MRP when a party is 20+ points ahead.

And he posted that after he knew about the 'wow' poll.

But then the 'wow' guy also posted that the "don't knows" were disproportionately over 65. And we all know who they end up voting for...

Sunak was on the East Lancashire Railway yesterday.

Almost makes me want to cancel my ELRPS membership. (But I'm a life member, so it's not really possible.) My God, if he thinks he has any hope of saving the Bury seats he's more delusional than I thought. More chance of me buying an ST at Old Shitford - football that is, not cricket.

The fact that David Cameron, who should really be their only ace in the pack and (admittedly from a low bar) to be fair to him has been doing a good job as foreign secretary, has just sacked it off and gone on holiday speaks deafening volumes.
