If that’s the way it goes, it will mean that others have failed to adapt to the nature of global politics. It's gonna happen. Labour will do fuck all and we'll get an even more right-wing government.
I think there will be a lot of people who used to vote for labour. Those people then voted conservative because of brexit and are now voting for reformTbf it kind of feels like the Reform vote will be mainly a Tory voters protest voting?
11k is huge for reform in Sunderland as a new party surely?
I do see Reform as somewhat moderate in some areas but yes extreme in others. I'm not willing to say Reform is far-right as in absolutely everything about them is essentially Nazism because that isn't true. I do not agree with their immigration policies but I just don't see the problem with some of their other policies. That doesn't mean I'm a far-right monster.I think you need to spend a bit more time listening to Reform candidates and also studying the history of how far-right movements have risen in democratic nations. And perhaps consider that your own political beliefs may cause you to see Reform as more moderate than it actually is.
If you would like to see some modern parallels, read up on Marine Le Pen’s and the National Front/Rally’s rise in France.
The biggest worry with Sunderland is that Sunderland has seen the smallest rise in migrants living there than anywhere else, and it was a very small number to start with.Reform.13% of the Sunderland vote, disturbingly high.
People of low intelligence who don’t like foreigners , if we are honest.I think there will be a lot of people who used to vote for labour. Those people then voted conservative because of brexit and are now voting for reform
Somewhere around 25% of the vote by my mental calculation. Frightening. And just over a 50% turnout, which is depressing.
