I think they'd justify it in terms of self-interest - countering the threat from the Brexit Party. They've got their second referendum on the No Deal issue - why damage their party for no good reason and disappoint their voters further?

You are talking about different people than the ones who have been kicked out ?

By Tuesday? That's not tight that's impossible.
(On delaying prorogation wouldn't that have to be approved by Liz,could be tricky).
If the FTPA bill could get through on Monday why can't they table their own election bill to follow it when it fails? The rebel extension bill was put through in a day (and a night). On Prorogation as with everything else HMQ does what's she told.

I can smell the desperation.

Even if they all came back into the fold, Johnson had already lost his majority.

which is the whole point - on Cummings advice Boris puffed his chest out and burned his boats. Now everything is staked on there being enough seats to be winnable BY THE TORIES in a GE to win an overall majority. The fact is they prefer that to happen before we leave on a No Deal. It has to be said that the idea with the Brexit Party, UKIP and the Lib Dems there to make inroads into seats that is a very very very dangerous gamble to take - and that is without factoring in why they really want it to happen before a No Deal - maybe Project Fear is Project True. Overall he is fucked I am very pleased to say.

Because the 'FTPA' is an existing bill, if a vote under this bill gets the 2/3 majority then an election is then approved immediately following this vote.
In the case of new legislation to approve a GE and date this would have to go through the normal procedures ( Lords etc) and there isn't enough time for the bill to pass by Tuesday for a Oct 15 election.IF it got through by Thursday (the final day of this parliament) then the election could be Oct 17? This timing is extremely tight.
The rebel extension bill was not put through in a day. It took from last Tuesday night to this Friday evening with royal assent on Monday.
Like others on the forum.I can't see any of the new Tory independents voting for such a general election bill.
Liz would not be put in the position of having to reverse a prorogation she was asked to approve only a week earlier.

We'll see Len, desperate times mean desperate measures and a post October election may not be as cut and dried as you think...
