how can you expect people to respect something they think will do economic damage to the country - it's not us and never has been remainer voters that blocked Brexit.
It's the tories that bought the vote that the majority didn't want, the ERG blocking any deal bought forward and now Boris that will have to see through the car crash that will be Brexit.
Yet still, it's us remainers that have no influence to blame for it all.

I guess we will find out over the coming weeks the reasons why Labour lost so heavily in traditional areas. It will also be interesting to see if this is a long term shift in voting behaviour or many voters have lent their vote to the Tories.

I think the Corbyn/McDonnell/McCluskey leaderhip is the the throwback issue. They deliberately abandoned their Brexit commitment in an attempt to polarize politics between the extremes of their Marxist solution and a forced Tory/Farage populist axis. That failed after the BP was told to stand down and also because they didn't seem to realize how much the traditional Labour supporter outside London loathes the neo-liberal ideology worn as their badge of honour - and which is so much a feature of its earnest enthusiasts on this forum.
