He is supporting a remain position because the Labour party is a democratic party and the leader does not get to chose what policy is. It is not like the Tory party.

If the Labour party members support a policy, there is nothing a Labour leader can do but to adhere to the memberships wishes.

He can stand up for principle of course, but he was the overwhelming choice as leader of the party and therefore is at the behest of the party.

Vote Jezza, for a better Britain

I thought Labour campaigned at the last election on a Leave ticket?

The manifesto said so, but as they are in opposition they are under no obligation to stick to that manifesto as circumstances change and the manifesto was not carried. The party that wins the election/forms the Government is under an obligation although not bound by their manifesto. Basically its a sales pitch and if the sales pitch fails, you have the option to change it.

Strange how people don't understand this.

Ok, cheers

Oh, I understand it alright. It’s just another example of politicians saying one thing and doing another. That’s not just aimed at Labour and Corbyn by the way

Only time will tell how risky a move that is. It’s bound to piss off millions of Labour voters who voted Leave but on the other hand might get some votes from Remainers who wouldn’t normally vote Labour.
