funny as fuck - Tory on SKY News now desperate for Labour to vote for the GE at the same time as stating she believes Johnson when he says he doesn't want one !

I don't think Labour will do it........ Johnson will have been led by Cummings up a blind alley. An alleged majority f one but unable to get anything done in Parliament - if he goes to that summit he may as well request asylum because he seems to have fuck all going for him here now.

For some, maybe. The 130,000+ deaths in 9 years of Tory rule - in modern day United Kingdom - might tell you something different.
That's a silly stat tbh.

The point is people die all the time and whilst even 1 unnecessary death is tragic, it is unfortunately a fact of life. No matter how much money is spent, there will ALWAYS be an ambulance which didn't make it in time, or some experimental drug which wasn't available or a policeman who go there too late.

Sure, had we spent more on public services then maybe that number might have been less. In fact in probably would have been. But in 2010 the public voted with full and clear knowledge for a period of austerity, which everyone was told would be hard, and would mean tough choices. It is naive to think that during that period, there would be no adverse consequences or they would not be tough choices. You may not have voted for it, but the electorate did. And they voted for it again in 2015.

And anyway, this is another huge segue. The point is communism has NEVER worked.

It will certainly funny as fuck if he follows through and sacks MP's for voting against his government, all this impudence will backfire on him spectaculary.

Not getting in the middle of this, but do you think your current system is working?

Ask yourself this, compared to 100 years ago, are we socially and economically better off? Are you worst off to your equivalent 100 years ago whose children worked down the pit and had no education or hope?

We now define poverty by what we can or could afford and not by what we can't and never will. We even define our health service by waiting times and not the number of deaths this week.

Obviously there are better systems and I am in massive favour of the Norway system for example but that is still underpinned by a more socially concious capitalism.

The system needs tweaking, not a total overhaul.

It's not a binary.

Politics is at a low ebb, not least because of the turgid personalities which seem to be endemic. And the country is clearly suffering from impaired public services after a long period of constrained public spending. (No need to get into any debate about whether this was necessary or not. I happen to believe it was necessary, but that is not the point, it's happened.)

But if the economy continues to grow and as we continue to get debt under control, there is more room for public spending and the plight of the less-well-off will improve, and attitudes will change.

Is "the system" structurally broken? No. Would replacing it with some neo-communist ideal a la McDonnell, improve things? Categorically not. There might be some very short term uplift for the poorest whilst he went on his tax and spend spree, but it would be unsustainable and would utlimately make EVERYONE worse off, with the poor feeling it the most. More people unemployed and even worse public services. How anyone can look at nations like Russia and think "yes please, I want some of that" is quite beyond me.

Yeah, when you've a wafer thin alleged majority in the house, threatening to turn it into a de facto minority really doesn't help your cause.
