I totally agree social media has a lot to answer for. I mean (sorry @Ric) this is a social platform and look at the way people get worked up on here. And yes I include myself in that. I doubt many of the things said on here would be said face to face.

It's a bit like road rage where people seem to think abusing others is fine so long as they are in the relative isolation of their own car.
Remarkably well put.
It's very easy to say things without thinking how it might effect the other person on the other side of the screen so to speak

Boris, Trump, Farage, Mogg and Francois. Imho you're either with them or against them.

I think that is their full mindset, hence why they love the term enemy for their opponents.

Vile people in my opinion with no conscience or care other human beings, I think the common term is sociopath

Absolutely correct but I would say on here is nowhere near as bad as Twitter or Facebook, and I’ve deleted both of my accounts from those poisonous platforms.

You’re right about the road rage point, it’s a good analogy and I’ve said recently things would be much more diplomatic face to face, even if you’re like me and very confident when talking (gob shite).

Being behind a screen and not in person does tend to allow for more rudeness and confrontation to points.

but I have noticed that society in general is getting angrier.

be it manners on the road where now everyone fights for their right on the road

walking down the street and accidentally bumping into someone you get a gobfull.

someone saying something a bit dodgy years ago , and the angry mob wanting them sacked.

trying to get a pint at the bar

airports .

everyone is in a rage these days!

I sacked off my Twitter and Facebook years ago .

I feel this too, but then I wonder if it’s just me getting older and thinking things are getting worse.

I think that , also we now see videos posted on news sites of incidents that may have happened years ago which we would never have seen , also 24 hour news.
However I just think basic manners have gone, or going from society. On the tram nobody stands up to let an old person sit down. They just stare at their phone.

it’s awful though that mps feel they have to step down because of the abuse they get from members of public, death threats and threats of violence are a disgrace against public servants.

However look at the example they set in the house over the last year - they all just stand up and take it turns to stand up and insult another member of Parliament . The public watch this anger and get angry as well. The level of manners and politeness is none existent .its often like a chippy / fumble classic ding dong.

they and we all need to turn the dial down a bit.
