United face big loss on record signing Di Maria

ANGEL DI MARIA has agreed personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain and hopes to join the French champions before the start of the Ligue 1 season. PSG are negotiating a fee with Manchester United for a player who became the Premier League club’s record signing less than 11 months ago.

United paid Real Madrid an initial €75m (then £59.7m) for the Argentina international, also committing to pay £3.95m of “guaranteed variables” and cover £3.2m of Fifa-mandated “solidarity payments” to his former clubs. They are expected to take a big loss on what remains a record fee paid by an English club, but will remove the Premier League’s highest basic salary of £11.96m from their wage bill.

Agreement has almost been reached between the two clubs on the fee.....

@tancredipalmeri: Big transfer news in 15 minutes. Just tune in, don't make me say which team or league. It's worth.

Should be given a thread on his own, be interesting to see if he gets anything right. Mind you if you throw enough shit some is likely to stick.

Market has gone mad.

I heard some morons actually bought this unproven lad Saleem Hurling for 50 million quid.

Bonkers.

I just think this new TV deal giving PL clubs more money to spend than other European teams is going to be a myth in my opinion.

There will just be an extreme premium put on the players because everyone knows English clubs top to bottom have money to spend.

^^^^^^^^^ This.

Which also means any ability to "home-grow" or buy the highest quality young talent and use the CFA to develop it might enable City to print money in the not-too-distant future.
