General Videogame Thread

Fair comment. The reviews I have read about the Cyberpunk game though have been very positive, so it is odd people on here are having these graphic issues and are giving such negative feedback. Hopefully patches will sort it.
The reviews were all based on PC review code, playing on near-top end gaming machines. And even then most said it was incredibly buggy pre-Day 0/1 patches.

CDPR didn’t release console code for reviewers and, even with the PC code, required reviewers to use pre-recorded, pre-released video for all reviews, rather than the video recorded by reviewers.

Oh, thank, I didn't know that. This is not generally my type of game, but my son might be tapping me up for it for Xmas, I might have to suggest he waits to see if the updates work.

It is odd though, I believe its been in development for 8 years, so you would think they would have got it sorted to run ok on day 1.

Likely a good idea.

Here is an ongoing PS4 version review thread (started yesterday for the reasons discussed in my earlier post) that captures a lot of the issues present on the old gen consoles (some of them also present on next gen) for anyone that is interested.

Here are a few “highlights”:

Generally something being developed that long is a bad thing, not a good thing, as the techv evolves so much during that time that it means a lot of the earlier work is either useless or actively unhelpful and causes problems with the newer bits

Some games are like this: anyone played 'No Mans Sky'?

Over-hyped rubbish when it came out, but after multiple updates its great. It even one an award at this years golden joysticks (for best update!) there is even a Playstation VR version which is supposed to be amazing too, but I just don't have the gear to play that on at the moment.

Yeah, some games are launched before they are ready. That's why I am more disappointed in the lukewarm to mildly positive reviews of the story than any Day 1 issues that could be fixed by the time i get round to playing it.

I am more disappointed in the obvious con, especially from CDPR (which is separate from just releasing a game before it is ready), but agree that the feedback I have heard about the story is not overly encouraging, as well.

Eesssh. Yeah, fully made my mind up now. Not going near it. Was so, so excited for this, and im gutted as it looks like the guy even enjoys the game's actual gameplay, but unless they make it vastly better i'm just not gonna bother. Can't stand that level of bugginess. Frequent crashes aren't alright either. Might've accepted it on my N64 back in the day, but not now.

Interesting that. My mate reviewed it for VGC and he really enjoyed the story and side quests: https://www.videogameschronicle.com/reviews/cyberpunk-2077/

From what i've read people do enjoy the actual game side of it!
