General Videogame Thread

Talking of which, i've finally got back into The Witcher 3 and for the first time, i'm actually enjoying it. It's amazing how well it holds out graphics-wise on a PC considering it was released in 2015. The same goes for GTA V, both of these without mods still look great. I imagine if i installed some of the graphics mods then they would be amazing.
Next-gen update for Witcher 3 is due out this year, hopefully fairly soon. Will be on PC as well as the latest consoles.

Elden Ring everything the game has to offer.

Wander aimlessly through Elden Ring no longer with this handy interactive map

Elden Ring is From Software's biggest game by far. So vast is its world that the developer added an in-game map to help you get orientated in The Lands Between. But aside from highlighting areas you've already discovered, it doesn't contain that much detail. Even after wandering around for hours, there are still a lot of items and areas that you can miss in this sprawling peril-filled place.

Thanks to this interactive Elden Ring map by Mapgenie (via PC Gamer), you can now discover all that the game has to offer. It helpfully pinpoints everything from locations, including Sites of Grace and dungeons, to items and materials like Swordstone Keys and Smithing Stones. The map also highlights where to find weapons and Ashes of War for bolstering your build, as well as NPC and enemy locations. You can disable aspects that you don't want visible, and there's a search bar that allows you to instantly find what you're looking for.

Be warned that as this map contains information on all of Elden Ring's objects and inhabitants, it is something of a spoiler. If you'd rather discover things for yourself, then it's probably best to avoid it.

Detailing the locations of everything in Elden Ring is no mean feat, and the map is currently labelled as a 'work in progress', so some details might still be missing, particularly in the later areas of the game. As well as the Elden Ring map, Mapgenie has a host of other interactive maps for some of gaming's biggest new releases, including Horizon Forbidden West and Dying Light 2.

Originally from Ireland, I moved to the UK in 2014 to pursue a Games Journalism and PR degree at Staffordshire University. Following that, I've freelanced for GamesMaster, Games TM, Official PlayStation Magazine and, more recently, Play and Games Radar. My love of gaming sprang from successfully defeating that first Goomba in Super Mario Bros on the NES. These days, PlayStation is my jam. When not gaming or writing, I can usually be found scouring the internet for anything Tomb Raider related to add to my out of control memorabilia collection.

A week playing elden ring and though I have got better and cleared a few dungeon bosses, don’t die as much and explore and level up, I find there isn’t that much to do other than grind. I’m not ready for the main story I don’t think, but I expected there to be more to do.

That being said I’ve just found Margit and had my ass kicked, but I managed to get him to about 50% health first attempt.

Defeated Godrick last night. That was one tough battle.

Entered Liurnia Of The Lakes and found out that section of the map is bigger than Limgrave and The Weeping Peninsula combined!!

This game is absolutely huge
Spent three bastard hours trying to beat that first boss last night and struggled to get even close. Sacked it off and just explored more and found some roundtable area where I can upgrade weapons and buy some better stuff. Gonna keep exploring and get stronger and then go back.

It really is!

5 hours in and I am really enjoying it. lots of nostalgia!
Absolutely. Hearing 'Freedom to win' again made my eyes widen. The pop-up 'assistants' are beginning to irritate a little, but i'm hoping this is just their tutorial stage of the game.

Elden ring played it for a couple of hours and couldn’t even get a level up I was that pathetic!

Only killer two main bosses too.

Been playing about 10 hours of Elden Ring the creators of this game owe me a new controller I've broken the LB button...lol. Some of these bosses are a joke! And this is coming from someone who has played and beat Bloodborne and DS3 numerous times

Some crackers in there. Ynglet, Superhot, Inmost, Kingdom Two Crowns, Celeste, all amongst my faves of the last few years.

Draconic tree sentinel is my most hated, I cheesed it by quitting when behind it and constantly casting poison, took ages but did the job haha

Go West from the church with the anvil, head to the right of the cave, you will see a bunch of enemies and a bonife(grace). Rest there and you will meet an NPC who will allow you to level up thereafter!

FINALLY managed to beat Margit this morning after I done a crazy amount of grinding to level up

Playing as The Astrologer and managed to get The Meteorite Staff and Rock Sling spell which are fantastic

The staff can't be upgraded but is S teir which means it scales up with the amount of intelligence you have so I've dumped nearly all my level ups in that.

The Rock Sling spell fires 3 huge rocks which can track a single or multiple enemies. Around Lingrave I'm absolutely wrecking enemies with one shot and beating the mini bosses pretty easy. There's also easy farming spots around the area where you can get around 30-40,000 runes per hour.

Off the investigate Stormveil Castle later and then the north which I believe is significantly tougher than Lingrave
I really think sorcerer is the way to go in this game, whenever I'm stuck on a boss I normally get helped much more when I summon someone with INT. They just blast them from a far with some huge channel of energy

A good way into elden Ring now. I was for a long time playing quite underleveled and had detoured off to a rather difficult area when there was far easier things I hadn't done but I've now caught up to nearing unofficial recommended levels for the stage I'm at.

My initial impressions of the difficulty being imbalanced are still there though. I'm still getting spanked by standard mob enemies on my way to bosses multiple times over then I'm smashing the boss first time. it's just making no sense. I've just made it up a big cliff with what I would call posion harpies killing me repeatedly right before the next Grace. Finally made it, rested, entered the boss arena blindly, giant fire dragon, destroy it first time with barely a scratch. This has been a theme throughout.

I'm around level 60 now and still rocking my starting uchigatana albeit levelled up a decent amount and have the same starting samurai armour set on too, armour seems to have been really ignored this time.

From people I know playing it, I seem to be the only person not running a magic build, that seems to be the overpowered go to build this time around.
