General Videogame Thread

Absolutely battered Elden Ring. I'm 100 hours in and there's been some absolute tough fuckers to kill, Radhan, Astel the natural born void, Margott the fire giant & more it's huge. I'm currently in the castle at the mountain of giants so I've a few more tough fuckers to come as well lol.

It's absolutely brilliant.

Some bosses I've had to change my stats using a larval tear and it's helped massively although when you progress up the levels it really does become easier. I was stuck on Astel the natural void for ages till I went away changed my stats so I could duel weld samurai swords level up a little more to return and defeat 1st try.

Once I've finished it I'm going to do a mage build as the magic looks brilliant.

Go West from the church with the anvil, head to the right of the cave, you will see a bunch of enemies and a bonife(grace). Rest there and you will meet an NPC who will allow you to level up thereafter!

Oh I can level up it’s just that getting the ruins to level up is the ball acke but watched this video where you warped somewhere where there is a white sleeping dragon takes ages to kill but never wakes got 70k ruins :)

Is it best to just sink runes into leveling up? or are there decent gear to purchase from people to focus on?

If you want to use some weapons of magic or pyromancer you have to level up!

Main ones to level up are endurance vitality then it depends what build you going to have.

Draconic tree sentinel is my most hated, I cheesed it by quitting when behind it and constantly casting poison, took ages but did the job haha
Not going to lie I did the same lol I still haven't beat those guys in the cave had to remap my buttons due to LB being out of action still. Now I have a much more powerful weapon that hits up to 400+ each time so I'm coming for those b*stards!!!

Radhan for anyone struggling use Scarlet rot dragon breath two doses of that will take him out let the NPC distract him and gallop out of harm's way that did the trick for me :)

Holy crap anybody beat Malenia? She's absolutely lethal :(

Only beat two main bosses just mooching about and getting my level as high as I can picking up good items to help fight the harder bosses later in the game main problem is don’t know where the main bosses are bear plenty of the smaller bosses in those mines.

Ye some of them are an absolute pain to find it's amazing how big this game actually is.

What class did you pick mate? I went with Vagabond but I've had to reset my attributes twice as I struggled to kill some bosses
I was using 2x Longswords they were hitting to slow and I couldn't get away from some of them fast enough lol

Today I'm going to hopefully beat Malenia.

The Profit a faith build and pyromancer. Many of for the samurai because of the bow and strength! My biggest mistake was when levelling up I didn’t put more in arcane mind and faith it’s what I’m doing now! Killing that massive sleeping white dragon was a level booster for the 70k ruins you get from it.

When you defeat the boss at Raya Lucaria Academy which if following the story should be pretty soon for you she allows you to respec all your attribute points provided u have a Larval Tear item.

Plenty of rune farms later on as well, I found a big on a cliff next to a grace u shoot it with a bow and it runs of cliff and gives you 13,000 runes :)

Also look at a video on YouTube and see if you're strong enough to get the Gold Scarab it's a talisman that gives more runes on defeating enemies really helps early game.

I have the lavar tear already and yep I’m in the swamps at moment I’ll be head for hours because I like to look around every nook and cranny.

I spent an hour this morning looking for the cave couldn’t find it so ended up just looking around and getting killed way to easily. :)

What is his video till the end. It shows you the location of the best rune farm. I got 2.7M runes farming there for an hour a couple of days ago

Edit to access this Spot you need to kill Goldric(the second main boss) first

Yes you can get absolutely murdered in the open world lol.

After so far playing through and feeling the bosses are easier than getting through the normal mobs, I met Radahn.

This guy can get fucked, dodging his arrows at the start takes extreme precision, dodging his volley of them or his bloody meteors is basically impossible and they're 1 hit kill moves. you either have to hope they target an npc instead of you, or they get in the way or he's in a position where the topography gives you slight cover at the right angle. It's pure fluke, 1st go I got him to within about 3 hits and his floating meteors took me out without warning. I then spent countless tries just getting 1 shot time and time again by things that are impossible to avoid even after putting on all my best gear to deal with him specifically. Eventually had to go away and put a tonne of runes into different attributes I had ignored to be able use rot breath like most of the Internet is suggesting. It trivialised the fight but I shouldn't have had to go down that route.

I feel like the game really really wants you to play as a magic build the further you get, bosses and enemies become so much harder for melee builds and the armour with no upgrading available all but becomes irrelevant as most things are going to 1 or 2 hit you anyway.

Yep you don’t get much benefit from having a sword and going head to head with a boss magic will be the way most will go.

Watched someone on Twitch who does no hit run throughs he cleared it with about a dozen hits! he is unbelievable no shield just dodging at the right time being patient and using a bow the ice stomp and a magic sword.

I’m on level 57 had the ice stomp for a day and it’s the dogs bollocks.

All bosses all area’s link if you want to eventually kill all bosses and by the look of it will take months.

Has anyone ever used itch.io before or know whether it’s a legit, safe site?

They currently have a bundle of indie games where the money goes to a couple of charities supporting Ukraine:
  • International Medical Corps provides medical assistance in the region. They have very low fundraising overhead (1% of income), with 89% of donations going to medical aid and 10% to administration.
  • Voices of Children, a Ukrainian organization that helps children cope with the horrors of war, PTSD, readjusting to school, and getting back to being kids. They have also been doing a lot of grassroots impromptu work during the war, such as helping set up shelters. Our hope is that this war will be over soon, and they can begin the work of healing these kids' hearts.”

So for $10 equivalent (you can give more if you want) you can get almost 600 indie games.

It’s almost raised $5m already.
