I don’t know much about Walsall but any chance of getting some senior football is a good thing. I think it beats playing in training matches and EDS at his age / point in his career. At some point you need a new challenge and he should be looking at Walsall as a club where he can make a big impact even in a month.

In my opinion it was better to stay at MCFC but to take his oportunities. He is a really good player
Hopefully he will get regular first team football with Walsall which,at this stage of his development,is far better than the EDS.The most he could have hoped for here was maybe a Carling Cup adventure.

Agreed, there comes a time when you need meaningful football. The EDS is a fantastic set up for learning and developing but it can’t replicate the pressure and intensity of senior football with experienced professionals and the pressure of playing in front of a decent crowd. There comes a time when you need to take the skills learnt in the academy out in to the big wide world and those opportunities will always be limited with our first team. 4 or 5 games in a month at lower league level would be a good start.

As many above have said, I think playing in a senior side will help his development but I honestly don't know enough about him. Is he good enough to be a squad player for the senior side in the future?

Possibly but when you look at the strength and depth of midfielders in our squad it is going to be incredibly difficult to get a significant break. I think Evans is similar to where Emyr Hughes was a view years ago. He had a really loan spell at Birmingham, scored their goal of the season and broke into the Welsh national team but since then we sold him to Wigan and he got an injury and has not really pushed on. It’s very difficult to know how things will pan out.

In reality for most EDS kids coming through a couple of years as back up / squad player with us before being sold to another decent club will constitute a good return for both us and them. Hopefully we can build up a production line of decent professionals that provide the depth in the squad but they are also a pool of talent from which, hopefully, a worldy might emerge.

Just look at the EDS lads out on loan and its good there playing man football. Evans gets a month out and who knows in January he might get another month out. I just think its the guys out for the season that should come back stronger for us. Looking at the squad we can all see maybe Denayer coming into the squad once MDM goes. Then it will be a case of the best of the lads out there coming back and fighting for a squad place come pre season. Think the younger lads will go back out on loan again who went out this season. While 1 or 2 could well be sold on.
