Why Roberto Mancini has made his first mistake as Manchester City manager by picking Robinho
By Stan Collymore
Roberto Mancini and his assistant Brian Kidd discuss tactics
Roberto Mancini has only taken charge of Manchester City for one game but he may have put a nail in his coffin by pandering to Robinho.
Mancini’s glowing appraisal of Robinho initially alerted my suspicions that perhaps City’s new boss had been given orders how to treat the club’s record signing.
But from what I have seen of Robinho since his £32.5million arrival from Real Madrid last September, the Brazilian has done little to justify his enormous fee. And to hear Mancini making statements about Robinho having a big future at the club set alarm bells ringing for me.
So I wasn’t surprised to see him back in the team for their win over Stoke.
But for the Brazilian to be in the starting line-up is nothing short of a joke.
So I am thinking Mancini, like Mark Hughes before him, has been told to play him.

you think collymore is right to say that the owners are making mancini pick him?
smeeagain said:why else would he play an unfit player, low on confidence, not suited to the prem, with a huge ego,who cant tackle ,pass or even sometimes control the ball ?
its obvious they want him playing, he was largley the owners choice, would you go against your boss if you were on the sort of money mancinis on ????
