Getting a GP appointment

I’ve already come to terms that if my back injury is what I expect it to be it’s going to cost me £7.5k to fix it!! If waiting times are years I can’t live like this, within a month I’ll be sorted. I should be able to at least claim the tax back if the nhs can’t fulfil its obligation.
Some of these doctors need to remember the Hippocratic Oath.
I didn’t know you could claim tax back if you go private, it cost me 3,000 twice for a simple procedure that the NHS cocked up. Private was the best (two failed operations General anaesthetic twice) it was a nightmare but I’m sorted now and a private specialist consultant did my op.

No one seems to take on the government anymore for the state of essential services. Not since Thatcher was in power have we had any serious attempt to change the way things are run. Clapping the nurses and doctors during the pandemic is not good enough.

Same at ours, even before covid-19. Have literally stood outside the place before and rang for an appointment, only to see them actually divert it to bloody mastercall. Doctors themselves are great, no complaints, it's getting to see the buggers that is something of a fine art.

They also seen to have different appointments available depending on who is calling. I called for an appointment for my daughter once and was told try again in the afternoon. Five minutes later my wife called and was offered that same morning. Maybe somebody cancelled, maybe somebody doesn't like checking the system.

I also received my 40 years old health check-up letter from them in the post... when I was 42.

Is it an emergency? No, because if it was I'd be down at A&E and not talking to some nosy receptionist on a power trip.
I'm 48 and have never had or heard of a 40years of age check up.

It is a bit difficult when 2 identical threads are running at the same time, I have just posted in the other one, since May 2000 I have been sent twice to hospital as an emergency. I have had 3 different scans including MRI and the brain one. I have seen an eye specialist and a neurologist plus various others. In 2 years despite repeated requests at TWO different surgeries, I have NEVER seen a gp.
There may be good gp's but I haven't found one.
A&E is going under because these overpaid useless wankers just send everybody there.

I have no idea what your condition is but why the obsession with a GP? It sounds like you’ve been sent to specialists, so what are you expecting a GP to diagnose that a specialist cant?

Also who referred you to these people if a GP didn’t?

I filled in an online form requesting some stronger pain killers and a phone chat with a doctor. I marked the form urgent. I received a text the next day saying they would ring me on 10th June. Straight back on the phone asking why it would take so long for an urgent request. The receptionist said she would speak to a doctor. Anyway the doctor rang yesterday and I was delt with. Shambles. A cleaner or tea lady must have passed judgment on my online request.

My daughter had a lump on the side of her neck. From the first phone call to actually seeing a doctor was around a month. A LUMP on the side of the neck! Turns out it's nothing serious but IS the lymph nodes.
People will be dying because of the situation with GPs around the country.
I know it's down to a lack of GPS, and they are training up a few thousand...but that takes YEARS. Can't we just get more foreign doctors in?

If you are unwell and you believe you need to see a a GP face to face then you should, no question. However a GP is not an expert in any particular medical area and can only prescribe or refer you to a specialist. People who book appointments and don't turn up without a reasonable excuse or a valid reason should be fined as should People who turn up in a and e with self inflicted injuries as they cannot handle their beer. The number of missed appointments is staggering and costs the nhs £160 each time. My wife is genuinely ill and suffers through the selfishness of other "patients:" People who complain they are stuck in a and e for hours have you ever thought why? you have been triaged and if you have had a stroke or heart attack will be seen straight away. If you've grazed your knee as you fell over a kebab after a few beers then you will be there for hours, and quite honestly deserve to be at the back of the queue. The system is under a massive strain but there are a lot of piss takers taking advantage of it as well.

Bear with me. This has gone on for over 2 years. There is little point in seeing a GP now but back then.... on one occasion my mental health was so bad I needed, no I was desperate to see them. They rang me instead. I even pleaded on the phone to be seen with no effect.
They would have surely picked up on how bad I was mentally in a face to face.
Have you ever tried explaining how you feel when you can't open your eyes ? When your head is aching so much you want to cry ?
One gp was so difficult to understand on the phone I re-sent an ask my gp and stated I could not understand him because of his accent. Guess who rang me back!
One Sunday I was in so much pain and taken my allowance of medication I rang 111. They sent me straight to Trafford General. They gave me meds by I.v and after 4 hours sent me home. They sent notes to the gp with suggested actions. He ignored it. I complained and the manager of the surgery said the gp was waiting to see what developed.
I could go on, I won't, it winds me up even typing. I am taking a break from this thread but I will just say imo all gps are wankers.

Both my wife and myself had cause to visit our local health centre last week to pick up paperwork. (Castleton) Me following a phone consultation with a doctor. On three visits between us, we were the only patients in there.

They were running the place as if in full lockdown, masks to be worn, hand sanitiser to be used on entry, full screens surround the reception. Most all chairs removed etc .... Full compliment of office staff could be seen in the back ( around half a dozen) none wearing masks, and I saw two doctors sat with them, chatting and holding brews.

WTF is going on?
