Paul Heaton and his very lovely sidekick Rianne Downey were brilliant at Liverpool Arena tonight. Fantastic set and performance.

IDLES tonight at the Apollo were pretty good. Didn't play much off the new album. Clear to see which are the crowd favourites as the crowd were pretty chatty during a couple of the songs. Big love for the lighting design - it was strobe heavy but excellent with how it matched the musicality of the band. Difficult to see the band at times with the amount of haze in the room and key light not being super punchy but it was a great job on lighting

Just been to see Sam Fender at the Co-op live. Not really my cup of tea but he has a fanatical following. Sold two nights there and loads of geordies there so they obviously travel to watch him.

Anyone else at the Travis gig on Friday night at the Albert Hall in town? Not a band I'd previously thought about going to see even though I like some of their songs, but after catching the back end of the set when supporting The Killers at Co-Op Live back in June, I decided to take the plunge and buy the tickets, especially as they were only £37.50 each which is cheap in these days of extortionate ticket prices.

Needless to say, they didn't disappoint. It was a tremendous gig, helped by the venue which is probably my favourite one in town. Fran was funny as fuck in between the songs too. Oh, and it was momentarily paused about a minute or so into the first song. Something was going on in the crowd down below which I thought was a medical emergency. Turns out that it had booted off. Yep, scrapping at a Travis gig - who'd have thought it!

We aren't sure about going to the local and having a few then heading over or seeing if there's anything near the venue. Does anyone know if Mary D's is open and do they do anything pre-gig?

Would love to see him and keep logging on to TM but the prices are just a bit steep and the Mrs isn’t particularly interested in seeing him. So tempted….like you say, last chance.

I’m going Sunday after the game. Someone I know had a spare for sale so as I was there anyway I thought I might as well. Well under face value so can’t grumble.

The bars in the venue are ok but obviously expensive!

Managed to get my hands on two tickets for Macca tonight. Resale ones were daft prices but they must have released another batch yesterday.

Was in two minds but buzzing for it now.

McCartney was absolutely magnificent. A tremendous gig tonight after that shit show next door. 82 years old and doing 2.5 hr sets. Incredible.

Chameleons Saturday night, magnificent.
I'm dying to see what the CO-OP Live Arena is like so I might go to Paul Heaton/Lightning Seeds tonight even though they're not exactly favourites of mine.
I did think of going to the Slipknot gig on Wednesday but I've just played a few of their songs to see what they're like and I've never heard so much shit in my entire life.
