Gillingham v Manchester City 1999

Just a quick note to say that I have just finished this book and it was a superb read - must have been a labour of love to get every player to contribute. Plenty of stuff about the day I didn't know and it brought back a lot of memories

Will post a review online this week, gives me an excuse to skive at work, ahem.

Cheers Howard! Kind words and it means a lot :-)

I got this book as one of my fathers day presents whilst I was on holiday
I read it in a day superb book and excellent holiday reading
Though they never had the ability of the team we have now that team from that period will
always feel closer to the fans
Great job

Thanks! :)

Genuinely really humbled by the feedback I'm getting! :)

Finished it the other day - the game still seems fresh in the memory so was good to get inside info on the day.
After reading Joe Royle's bit, I thought of my own 'Teenage Kicks' book (no, not a shameless plug but a comparison) and half regretted not having Tony Book and Glyn Pardoe pay their tributes to the players, but at the time I just wanted it to be the players story (and happy to stand by that!)

Really enjoyed it, loved Ian Bishop's story of the train home the next day and not paying the train fare! Not read Andy Morrison's book (yet) so his off field antics was an eye opener, similarly with Jeff Whitley.
Would love to have seen a contribution form Mr Halsey the ref too in there ha ha ha ha!

Well done David - great effort and placed alongside ''Who Said City Couldn't Play!'' on the shelf which I am 3/4 way through.

Cheers mate. Bizarrely, I do have a phone number for Mark Halsey and have interviewed him in the past, but I didn't feel it was the right decision to include a chapter on him, despite what happened to him in being diagnosed with cancer afterwards too.

Glad you enjoyed it! :)

Also got a lovely review from Howard Hockin on his blog: <a class="postlink" href="http://howiehok34.wordpress.com/2014/06/26/book-review-looks-like-scunny-next-year-by-david-mooney/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://howiehok34.wordpress.com/2014/06 ... id-mooney/</a> :)
