Given issues ultimatum to Mancini

in football there are two types of goalkeepers.
goalkeepers good for small teams. then there are goalkeepers good for great teams.
the goalkeeper is especially good for small teams when he is a good shotstopper. his small team may undergoes 20 or more shots every game.
a good keeper for a great team must be able to do other things. usually his team suffers a very few shots.
but he must know how to control the defense and should be complete.
must be good with his feet to kick a ball with precision. and must have vision becouse often he his the first playmaker. and must be able to go out on high balls.
Given in my opinion is not a keeper for a big club

rm should tell them both to stop moaning and get on with it.
then really fuck them both off and play stuart taylor now that would be funny

They are good shot stoppers but both share the same weaknesses in cross and distribution. Imo, Mancini should go out and buy a better all-round keeper instead. Both Germany's no.1 and no.2, René Adler (Leverkusen) and Manuel Neuer (Schalke), are the better all-round keepers who our club should seriously look at to replace these crying babies imo.

Just seen the interview and IMO Given was bang out of order.
When asked if he wanted to consider his options,he should've been professional and diplomatic.
He was neither.Instead,he effectively gave the manager an ultimatum on tv.
If he wants to go out on loan then the place to discuss it isn't on SSN,wearing an Irealnd shirt-it's Mancini's office.

Given should remember that he's had a serious injury-and one that can often re-occour once it's happened.
City stood by him.
He should be patient, fight for his place and not publicly throw his toys out on tv.
It's a team game,not "Shay Given FC."

Grow up,cry-baby.
No-one's gauranteed a place in this team.

Given Off ?

Anyone see the interview with Given on TV----Says he will consider leaving City if he does'nt start on Saturday.[ie The 1st choice keeper will start again'st Spurs]--- He went on to say that at his age he needs to be playing regular first team football. I have to say i'm disappointed in his attitude and suprised by what appears to be an ultimatum to the club

I think thats down to us don't you? Don't presume anything here - robinho will find out the exact same.

Try taking it in context, when pushed to answer the question whether he would leave or go on loan he said he'd prefer to stay at such a big and ambitious club, might consider a loan, but would much prefer to stay.
He's not throwing his toys out demanding to leave, he's saying if he didn't start he might consider going out on loan for a while, see how that goes, because at 34 he wants to play as many games as possible, but at the end wants to come back and see where it takes him. That's the quote you're annoyed about.

Oh heaven above. Some supporters these days..worse than journos.

firstly this supporter isn't wearing his green coloured tints, he's intelligent enough to understand the word context and how it applies to this 'interview'........... the fact he states 'consider' at all sniffs of pushing bob into a decision, don't be so naive, nobody has a divine right to a starting berth........... Yes he wants to play first team football, just so happens so does Big joe, battle it out like a pro instead of spouting off in the press and get the fucking job done.

Re: Given Off ?

As he says that at his age he needs to be playing first team football, perhaps someone ought to point out to him that at his age he should now be able to come for a cross, leave his goal line more than just at the half and full time whistle, catch the ball, command his area and also be able to distribute the ball whilst still keeping it in play at the same time as well.

Just saw that on SSN. Can we be clear..... None of our goalkeepers are going anywhere. I don't care what they want, they signed on, they honour their contract and give 100%

Exactly right TF. I bet there isn't a contract in the club that says they have to be picked. But I suspect that the Irish hacks are at the back o' this in some way. It'll be press yap. We have two superb goalies and the press will use that to pit one against t'other or one agin the manager.

Nobody with half a brain cell will give Mancini an ultimatum.

IF they were two superb goalies then mancini cant fauil . any choice will be good.

the problem may be that none of them two are good enough
