Nicky Read..........he could do no wrong when i was a kid.

My nipper doesn't know he's born, when my boyhood hero was a lad from Davyhulme who only scored 2 goals in 216 apps
sorry for being pedantic but if he was your hero then at least spell his surname correctly. its reid.
You're lucky they've not brought back capital punishment.
I get ya, Gaylord!

So long, and thanks for all the fish....
Hitchhiker's is very appropriate to associate with Mario. Both weirdly wonderful.

Then surely he should have worn Yaya's number?
Mario is wise enough to know what is the ultimate question. The answer is for the plebs.

He's not the answer to everything you know?
I fear he would have provided a few more on Tuesday if he'd been there.

Thanks for that Jay and of course you are correct, my fault for having a brain fart moment as i just copied the post above without thinking.

I'll go to bed tomorrow night with no dinner........honest!

Are these numbers from the Express real? I wonder if the author has mixed up Euros and Pounds.

Details of the deal emerged last night, revealing that they have sold him for £20m in fixed payments with a further £5m to come in add-ons, £4m of which are said to be “easily attainable”.

This part has been clear for a while but the media has refused to acknowledge it:

They bought him in 2010 for about £18m, not the £24m frequently quoted.

Well there are definately no more hiding places or excuses for super Mario now!

He engineered the move of his dreams,he is back in his home country, surrounded by friends and family,he is supposedly a world class footballer,we shall now see.

Personally i think he never gave a fuck about us,the club or the fans.He was suprised to find himself here and seemed to on the whole treat it as a jolly, like a kid playing up in detention but knowing if he plays up enough he will be expelled, which is his aim anyway and in the meantime he picks up a hundred grand a week.

Mancini loved and treated him like a son but on the whole he pissed all over that love, with little respect shown for his authority or position.

In spite of that we as fans also loved him.We loved his zany maverik character and the glimpses of his potential he showed all too rarely. He became a cult figure more for his off field antics than on.

Now it is over.I will remember him for the two goals at the swamp,THAT T-shirt and winding up camel gob at wembley........last but not least for THAT assist. After that it is hard to think of many more memorable moments on the field and that says it all.

Perfect summary, agree with every word. If I want to be positive about him it's thinking about those things listed in your last paragraph. If I want to be negative then unfortunately the list is endless.

He'll be missed, think he's one of our highest profile players too.

Oh well, at least maybe we can fly under the radar a bit more at times now.

He is high profile for all the WRONG reasons,or he was.He is now A C Milan's problem. One thing,if he suddenly starts ripping up defences in Italy, what will be his supporters opinion of him then, seen as he rarely did it for us?

Yes because our mavericks trio strikeforce are ripping up defences left right and center scoring goals for fun something that Mario rarely did... Yeah Right

Now that he's gone we can continue to play the stylish football that helped us slay QPR.
