There's a few theories out there. It seems to be a relatively new saying, possibly not much more than 100 years old. My favourite theory is that it is a cleaned up variation from an earlier phrase "I'll go t'foot of our garden/yard" (which I used to hear) and meaning "I've shat myself" because that's where the toilet would be.My nan used to say - " well I'll go t' foot of our stairs''. Never understood what it means, anyone know?
