Kippax was so packed that day they had to relieve the congestion by allowing more fans into the away area and corner. Look at the difference from first to second halves.
I don’t know why but I’ve never seen this. It’s the full half hour highlights from MOTD from the Charlton game, and really gives a taste of the atmosphere that day. Just listen to the noise. Also noteworthy are a number of songs which have died:
Here we go, here we go, here we go.
Going up, going up..
We shall not be moved
Ciiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttyyyyyyyy (at corners)
etc.
I loved watching this and reminiscing

Yes, amazing atmosphere & one of my first night games as a kid. The was it/wasn't it from White...a kind of proto VAR 30 years before it happened!Liverpool at home under Kendall, mid week night match, 2-1 City ,two goals by David White, the kippax was in full voice all game...steve mcmanamans full debut .
I'd never watched it either, I was living in Germany then, and we got next to no English football let alone "second division". I'd been over for a few games, but couldn't get back for that one due to work, so went out to watch a Bundesliga game to keep my mind off the game, it didn't work needless to say, the game I was at was a really shit a 0-0 draw.I don’t know why but I’ve never seen this.
I remember calling Swales a back to front on many occasionsSorry Peter..!
(To be fair though, I think he had it on back to front..!)
I could only get tickets in the away end off a tout. My mate wanted to go to boundary park to do one of his 92 grounds and I couldn’t get a ticket for city so we drove from Staffordshire a week after passing my test. I got lost and ended up at main road haha. Result for me. The atmosphere sounded superb from the away end. I somehow managed not to celebrate and avoided a stabbing I reconYes, amazing atmosphere & one of my first night games as a kid. Was the first time we'd beat Liverpool since I was 6...and I hated them miles more than United at the time. How things have come full circle!
